"Why the hell I always play with you? You always lose!" June was complaining loudly, at his friend, a shorter, stockier guy in a muscle tee with his hair tied back in a knot. The guy huffed at him.
"Well, you're a crappy player" the guy retorted.
"Fucker! You're crappy you asshole! Even the food you cook is crappy!" June retorted and soon, they both were at each other's throats.
"You ain' gonna stop 'em?" A thinner guy with his whole body covered in ink asked Thada who was sitting up on the pavement, lost in thoughts.
"Busy" Thada said gruffly.
"Doing what?" his friend asked exasperatedly. "What the hell are you thinking about?"
Thada looked up at him and for some reason, smiled. "Chipmunk"
His friend blinked. Then he tried to feel Thada's forehead but the look Thada gave him made him gulp and retract his hand. "Dude, you feel sick? Why the hell are you... you smilin'?"
"Oh, he doesn't smile Hippy, he'd get diabetes" said the guy who was trying to pull June and the other one apart. "Come on Dash! Quit it"
"Nah Brian, he can't have diabetes" said the one relaxing on the other side of the raised pavement with a guitar in his hands. "He'd give diabetes to diabetes"
They all laughed but Thada didn't even bother looking at anyone as he relaxed and went back to thinking. But the next moment, he sat up straight, brows knotted in a deep frown.
"Now what?" Hippy could only exclaim as he turned to look at the entrance of the court. "Who's that?"

Kao was washing hands in the men's room when Pete walked in. He looked up from his business to find Pete staring at him. Both blinked. And with a sigh, Kao went back to it. Once done, he turned the water off, ready to walk out but stopped finding Pete stand right behind him.
"Em..." he blinked again, a bit startled. "You're in my way"
"Eh? Eh..." Pete looked around, scratching his hair. When he found the place empty, he looked back at Kao, staring into his cute, doe eyes. That might be the second time he'd seen Kao up close without his glasses. The first time being when Kao had grabbed his collar in anger. He never forgot that day. Ever.
Not even after Kao left the school.
He'd seen stars in Kao's eyes for himself, he'd seen the hearts and the sparkle whenever they sat together for their tutoring sessions. And he'd found those innocent stars and sparkle quite heartwarming. He liked those innocent, glasses clad eyes and that cute pouty face. He liked seeing the liking in those eyes. He liked it a bit too much for his liking.
But the very first time he saw those eyes without glasses, they had no spark. They had hate and anger and regret. The hate he saw in those eyes that day haunted him even if he tried hard to not admit it.
And now, the second time he saw those eyes up close, the very first time he noticed that beautiful mole under his right eye, those eyes had no emotion for him.
"What the hell are you doing?"
Pete woke up from his trance to find Kao glaring at him. He realized with a start that he was about to touch Kao's face and pulled his hand back in hurry.
"Em... th-there was so-something... em... it's em... how are you?" he stuttered, making Kao frown.
"I was enjoying my day till you decided to block my way. Now step aside" Kao said with a frown and tried to move past Pete but Pete didn't move.
