RECAP

DAMON RIVERS' POV

Cool air rushed past me as the door gradually drifted open, spilling light into a dark, gloomy hall, overgrown with vines and moss and grass. It was like looking into a yawning, gaping throat of darkness, though some light streamed from holes in the ceiling, gently illuminating holes in the walls and floors...

...and a body, lying motionless before us.

A thrill of fear and anticipation flashed through me. There he was, the demon that had caused so much pain, fear, and destruction finally brought low.

          "Greetings...demon."

DAMON RIVERS' POV

My voice rang out, echoing through those shadowy corridors hollowly, fading in the distance. Behind me, I heard Jasher suck in a quiet breath, hold it. Weapons rang softly as they were adjusted in tight fists, and a boot scraped quietly on dry, rough stones in the silence.

And still, HE did not move.

My one working eye narrowed, my mind calculating what games he was playing...wondering if he were truly out. After all, he rarely showed weakness, as I had seen in our first battle with him. Perhaps...he was dead...?

I steeled my heart, tightening my grip on my twin axes. No, I would not grow lax, nor would I lower my guard. I glanced back over my shoulder, locked eyes with Soren, "Soren, fire an arrow into him."

My voice was soft, but Jasher jumped as if I had shouted. Soren nodded, whipping an arrow from his quiver with a soft whisper of iron on leather, nocking it to his bow, eyeing the still body not thirty blocks from the door.

"Where do you wish me to hit." He raised the bow, tense wood creaking as he drew it back until the white fletching touched the corner of his mouth.

           "His head."

Soren sighted down the shaft, breathed out, and let fly. The arrow hissed forward with deadly speed, straight for the target, right where the demon's spine met with his skull.

HEROBRINE'S POV

I heard their every breath, every heartbeat, however, I remained still and silent, wondering if I could lure them further in where their attacks would be harder to complete, where the walls of this fortress' halls would keep them contained.
