Meanwhile, Samantha arrived at the castle. Cat was the first to find her wandering around but she wasn't as shocked as you'd think. She figured Phil made her and she recognized her from the drawings Dan showed her from his childhood. "Samantha?" she questioned. "That's me! What's your name?" Samantha asked. "I'm Cat." she introduced herself. "Ooh, I love cats! I saw some in the village and they were so cute!" Samantha exclaimed. Cat laughed. "By the way, I'm looking for my friend. Do you know where Dan is?" Samantha asked. "I think. But but I'm not sure. Come on." Cat said, leading Samantha to the last room she saw Dan in. Unlike the others, she didn't believe James's story. She's been a friend of Dan and a servant in the castle for 11 years and her mother was a servant before her and they knew Phil would never hurt Dan on purpose. When the two girls reached the door and found it locked, Cat knew something was wrong. She unlocked the door and was shocked to find a white-haired, shivering Dan curled up on the floor.

"Dan!" she exclaimed, rushing to him. "C-Cat?" Dan whispered. "Yes, it's me Daniel. And god, you're freezing cold." Cat said. Samantha grabbed some sticks and re-lit the fire. "S-Samantha. G-Get away from there!" Dan shivered. "Wow! So this is heat! I love it!" Samantha gasped. Cat placed Dan in front of the fire. "Daniel, what happened?" Cat asked. "James h-happened. He's after the c-crown and wants to k-kill Phil!" Dan warned. "You go tell everyone about James, I'll stay here with Dan." Samantha said. "S-Samantha, no. You can't s-stay here. Y-You'll melt!" Dan pleaded. "I'm not leaving you until we find another act of true love to save you!" Samantha insisted. "What are you two talking about?" Cat asked. "Phil accidentally froze Dan's heart and only an act of true love can save him." Samantha explained. "I'll go tell the others everything." Cat said, leaving the room.

"Got any ideas on other true love acts that could save you?" Samantha asked. "I'm not even sure if I know what love is anymore." Dan answered sadly. "That's ok. I do. Love is...putting someone else's needs before yours. Like when Martyn and Adrian brought you here, knowing it would probably be the last time they'll ever see their new friend. Or me risking melting to make sure you're ok. Or when Phil kept himself away from you to protect you even though he hated being away from you." Samantha explained. Dan struggled to process this information. Dan spent the majority of his life practically all alone, and now there were suddenly people who cared about him? "They...love me?" Dan questioned. "Wow, you really don't know anything about love, do you?" Samantha asked, pushing her sliding carrot nose back in. "Samantha, you're melting!" Dan exclaimed. "Some people are worth melting for." Samantha said. Dan smiled sadly. 

Suddenly the strong, cold wind made the windows burst open. Dan shivered and Samantha ran over to close the windows. "Don't worry, we got this! You're gonna be fine! We are gonna-Oh wait, I see something." Samantha said, grabbing a thick icicle to use as a telescope and gasped. "It's Phil! He's ok! And it sounds like he's calling you." she exclaimed. "R-Really?" Dan asked disbelief. Phil never went looking for Dan before. It was always the other way around. Phil was looking for him. Phil was looking for him! "Wow, it looks like Martyn and Adrian are looking for you too! Although that is the most confused horse I've ever seen pull a sled. I guess I was wrong. Maybe none of them love you enough to leave you behind." Samantha added, completely oblivious to the fact this was a good thing. "Samantha, help me get outside." Dan said, trying to get up. "No no no! You have to stay by the fire and keep warm!" Samantha protested worriedly. "I have to get to the guys." Dan explained. "Why?" Samantha asked. Dan quirked his eyebrow and smirked. "Oh! I know why! There's your act of true love right there! Desperately fighting against the storm to help their friend in a time of need! Let's go!" Samantha exclaimed.
