Chapter 8 - "The Wind Knocks On The Window And Shakes The Night Awake"
-
Everyone had retired to their shared rooms as soon as V made his unannounced entry. Turned out that the guys knew about it and they had themselves invited him because he was in Busan. EN was probably the angriest one at them because apparently, they knew that K and V had a problem but they still invited him. They weren't to be blamed though. They didn't know Hexa would show up. It was technically their own fault.
Almost all the girls and V barely had any sleep that night. The girls were busy looking after K, who seemed fine but was actually not. She didn't say anything and that was the scariest.
Everyone knew it was worrisome when she kept it bottled up inside her. Her silence over the matter was what led to that dreadful night months ago...
K was all disheveled from all the running and crying when she knocked on Ace's door that night. Only Ace could remember how out of senses she was back then. Even though she didn't utter a word and dozed off just like that, the girls came to know about it the next night when she tried taking her own life.
"Do you know where K is?" V called Jihyo.
"Not now. She was at Ace's last night and was not okay at all. She left in the morning though," was all he heard as he cut the call, phoning Ace next.
"She was with you last night?"
"Yeah. She didn't tell me what happened though. Is everything alright, Tae?"
"No. Nothing is okay! Her mother told me she is not home since last night and- God!"
"She left from here this morning. The hell! Where could she be?" Panic reeked from both their tones.
"Try checking all the riversides V. I'll try to reach her too."
He ran off mindlessly all over the city until he reached the same spot they were at the night before. He felt the air knocking out of his lungs when he saw her kneeling down at a corner, her one hand covering her eyes and the other choking herself.
"Hyung Ji-ah!" He screamed, running off. He couldn't think straight. The thought of loosing her right there was hammering his heart so bad and he wanted to end all her pain.
"No. Stop, K! Stop, for God's sake. You can't do this!" He wasn't stammering or shivering at all. The only thing his brain could tell him that moment was 'don't let her die!' and he knew he would do anything in his power to save her there. But nothing was in his power. Nothing. He couldn't even shove her hands away because the way she was holding her neck, one hard press and-
He watched over as she pressed her fingers harder on her throat, shaking her head. Tears streamed down his face as he begged, his voice a lot lower now, "Hyung Ji-ah please. Don't. I promise I'll stay away from you. I won't let anything happen to you. Just don't die. Stop for God's sake!"
She coughed out, unintentionally loosening her grip. It was that one moment when she wanted air so bad that she finally regretted devoiding herself of it.
As soon as her hands loosened, he grabbed them real quick, shoving them down, before shutting his eyes close for a second. He couldn't close them for long. A second might snatch his world away.
