It was a dream. A gruesome, abhorrent dream. Standing in front of her was a shattered mirror, reflecting her own shattered pieces. Her platinum bob mocking her through the glass. Nothing happened at first, but as she continued to stare, her skin started to ripple in waves, slowly. Taylor thought she might be sick. But she felt nothing as she looked down at herself.
Dazed, she continued to watch her skin in the reflection, bubbling and writhing against her body. Shifting. Changing. When the transformation was complete and the scales thoroughly visible, she didn't cringe or scream, like she was dying to. She stood frozen before the broken mirror, studying herself. Accepting herself as this new version the world painted her as.
With that thought, she gasped awake. Sweat stuck to the back of her neck and she wiped it with a shaking hand. When she contacted her skin, it was the smooth familiar one. Not the skin of a snake. But nobody else thought so.
Because reality was much, much worse.
