Tom POV:

The venue was in a gorgeous rustic hall, small but cosy in the finest way. Cascading sheer white curtains hung from the walls that stretched up into the ceiling to from an arch above our heads. Fairy lights wrapped around exposed beams and circular tables were dotted here and there with no formality to its arrangements. There weren't many guests attending, the wedding was definitely much smaller than any other I had been to. I suppose it was quite nice though, it felt more intimate.

Harrison: Have you tried the cocktails yet?

I heard my best friend ask from beside me. I spun around and saw him sipping away at a bright yellow drink in his hand as his curious blue eyes looked around the place.

Tom: We only just got here.

I reminded him, chuckling at his childishness as he shrugged his shoulders and smiled at a few other guests.

Harrison: So? It's open bar.

He retaliated, and I nodded knowing I had been defeated. We moved deeper into the hall, attempting to locate our table.

Harrison: Isn't this crazy man?

He asked me, hands in the suit pockets he had received as a gift from a modelling gig he had just done. I frowned and briefly looked over my shoulder back to him as we continued walking slowly through the venue.

Tom: Crazy?

Harrison: We're at Spencer's wedding. I mean...Spencer.

He repeated after a slight pause, and I grew a smile as the realisation sunk in.

Harrison: The same guy that bet us he could skateboard down a hill whilst completely drunk and ended up getting taken to the hospital.

He said, recounting one of the many adventures we had had as young boys. I laughed as I remembered that night, it being completely chaotic but one of my fondest memories of us.

Tom: And now he's getting married.

Harrison: Somehow.

He joked, and I spotted the bride and groom entering through the floor to ceiling wooden doors.

Tom: That's going to be us one day. Well, hopefully.

I told him, motioning to Spencer and his new bride as they walked around and greeted their families and friends.

Harrison: To be honest, that's kind of terrifying.

Tom: I know, definitely a long way down the line for me.

I agreed, adjusting my tie.

Harrison: Really? I thought you were seeing that girl Hazel?

Tom: I am...she's great. But you know, it's still all new.

I explained and Harrison raised his eyebrow at me.

Harrison: Haven't you guys been dating for two months now?

I caught his eye again but quickly cleared my throat and adjusted my jacket.

Tom: Yeah exactly...still new.

Harrison: Right...

Tom: I'm gonna go say hi to Spencer, you coming?

Harrison: Nah I already passed them outside, I'll wait here with the drinks.

He told me, and I rolled my eyes as I went over to the happy couple.

Spencer: Tom! I'm so glad you could make it.

He said as he embraced me in a hug and patted my shoulder. He pulled away with a massive grin on his face, his arm immediately lacing around his wife's waist.

Tom: Of course I wouldn't miss it. It's so good to see you too Racheal. You look amazing.

I said as I hugged her too.

Racheal: Thank you, I'm glad you made it.

Spencer: So you've been busy since school, huh?

He said, referring to my acting career that was going better than I could have ever dreamt.

Tom: Yeah man, it's all been surreal really. But how are you guys doing? How's the new job?

Spencer: Good good, not quite as exciting as being a superhero but the hours are pretty much the same at the hospital. So how's-

Racheal: Oh sorry Tom I'm just going to go say hi to my friend over there, I'll catch up with you guys in a bit.

She told us as she lifted her dress to walk with more ease towards the entrance. I was about to carry on talking to Spencer when I heard Rachael shout to get her friend's attention.

Racheal: Y/n!

Instinctively, I turned around at the name. Without thinking I had just done it. I didn't think it could be but there she was, in a burgundy dress and her hair curled in effortless waves. I could have sworn all the lights in the entire hall had burnt out and my heart ceased to beat for a fleeting moment. She smiled as she saw Racheal, and they hugged before beginning to chat. After all these years, there she was: the girl that broke my heart.
