Chapter 1: wedding crashers

Kokichi's POV

"Get your lazy ass up already!" Miu shouted in my ear.
"Five more minutes!" I turned over in the bed.
"Come onnnn!" Miu pulled on my arm to try and get me out of bed, "there's a piece of mail with your name on it and I know how much you like opening mail."
"Fineeee." I got up and out of bed. Miu was right, I do like opening mail.

Miu and I live together and have since we got out of the game. It's been about 6 years now since the game. Miu and I don't keep in touch with too many of our old classmates. Mainly just Rantaro, Kirumi, and Kiiboy. We decided to move far away from where the game took place to avoid having to see anyone. But Rantaro likes to travel, Kirumi went to college where I did, and Kiiboy is attached to Miu. Miu and I have a really small apartment, that's not to say we don't have the money to get a bigger one, we do. We simply don't need more space.

Miu and I are super close. Like really close, probably too close. That's part of the reason we choose not to have more space, we really don't need it. Neither of us really care if the other one is in our business because we'd no doubt tell each other about everything anyways.

"Look! It's a fancy letter! I got one too though so don't feel too special!" Miu gloated. I slowly opened the letter. It was awfully nice looking, way too fancy for me.
"An invitation?" I questioned.
"Yep yep! Look who it's from!" Miu peaked over my shoulder. I scanned the letter looking for what it was for.

"Oh no." I replied walking over to put the letter in the trash.
"Oh come on! It would be awesome to go see everyone again!" Miu grabbed the letter out of the trash and held it out in front of me, "I already said yes!"
"You just got it today!"
"Wedding RSVP's should be done ASAP Kokichi!" Miu put her hands on her hips.

"There's no way in hell you're getting me to go to that wedding Miu!"
"Why nottttt?" She looked at me with big eyes, "I need someone to go with me!"
"If you and me are invited, Akamatsu is invited. Go with her." I turned to walk away but was stopped by Miu who grabbed my arm.

"Listen, I know why you don't want to go. But hey, this is a good chance to see him again!" Miu had bright starry eyes.
"I'll think about it."
"Pleaseeeeee, if you go we can try and ruin it!"
"I don't want to ruin what Saihara has..." I looked to the ground.
"But you want Saihara, don't you?"
"Well yeah but this is his wedding! I can't ruin it. To get married is a big step, he must be happy with someone else."

The invitation was to Shuichi Saihara's wedding. I can't be mad, I haven't talked to him in several years. To be completely honest I'm surprised I'm invited, however if I'm invited then everyone else from high school probably is. I guess it could be fun to see everyone again. But was it really worth it? I'd get to see people I haven't seen since the game but I'd also have to see Shuichi go off and marry someone else. If I'm seeing Shuichi get married to anyone I want it to be to me. I want to see him standing at the alter waiting for me to walk to him not some girl I don't even know.

She's probably a sweet girl. Shuichi deserves someone nice. I never even knew he was dating anyone. It's hard to believe I still like him after all these years. I haven't even texted him since the game. I don't even follow him on any social media platforms. He could look completely different for all I know! I don't feel like I should've gotten invited to this. The invitation had my name on it though, it was obviously meant for me.

It was around noon when Miu finally got me out of bed. She likes to make our bed a lot so she tends to kick me out. I could stay in bed all day if she'd let me. Oh, right, I should explain that. We share a bed. Neither of us like being alone very much so we decided it's easier to just share a bed. If anything we kinda have a friends with benefits relationship. But we're far from dating. Both of us are not attracted to the other. We simply act as though we're dating. Not that anyone sees it. It's kinda funny though, whenever robot boy comes over he gets jealous. I think he likes Miu.

Miu, going along with her talent, is going to school to be an engineer. She makes inventions on the side and has gained some serious money from it. I'm going to school to be a lawyer. Yes I know, very boring, but I'm a super persuasive person! I can get out of things myself so I figured why not try and help other people get out of things. Plus it pays well... I like wasting money. Miu and I make enough money together to buy a medium sized house at the very least but we don't need it.

I've always wanted to travel like Rantaro some day, so I guess part of me wanting to save money is that I want to use it to travel. I would rather not travel with Miu though, that's what's stopping me. I want to travel with someone that I'm dating. Like a romantic trip! That's what I want. I'd like to think I'm a romantic person. Keyword "think" I've never really gotten the chance to be romantic with anyone. Maybe one day.

Miu mailed my RSVP as well as hers. Guess I'm going now... didn't really get a choice but that's ok. I just hope I don't overreact while I'm there. I tend to do that and I don't want to ruin this for him. Although the thought of messing with something so I can steal Shuichi is a nice one.

The wedding is around a month away now.
3 weeks.
2 weeks.
1 week.
5 days.
3 days.

Miu and I got onto the plane. The wedding was decently far away. We decided to fly because it was just easier. Miu put her head on my shoulder and fell asleep. I was far too worried to sleep. It wasn't too long of a plane ride though so sleeping wouldn't do much anyways.

I felt kinda bad for having to wake up Miu. She looked oddly sound asleep for not being out for long. She was super sluggish on her way out of the plane. We did spot someone we knew though while waiting for our bags.

"Kokichi! Miu! Oh my Atua! I haven't seen you two in so long!" Angie ran over to us and tackled me to the ground in the middle of the airport.
"Hello to you too Angie." I said as I noticed people around us staring.
"Angie you can't run away from me, I don't like running. It's so tiresome having to run." Himiko said trailing behind Angie in a huff, "oh hey guys."
"Hey Himiko." I said as I balanced myself back onto my feet.

"Fancy meeting you two virgins here!" Miu put her arm on my shoulder. Showing off that she, after all these years, is still taller than me.
"I assume you two are here for the wedding as well then?" Angie questioned.
"Hell yeah we are! I'm ready to have fancy booze and cake!" Miu cheered. I looked away, not wanting to think about the wedding.
"Nyeh, you drink?" Himiko questioned.
"Miu is the wine aunt of the group." I commented.
"If I'm the wine aunt then you're the beer uncle!" Miu rubbed the top of my head.

"What hotel are you two staying in? Is it the one connected to the reception hall?" Angie asked, disregarding Miu's comment on my drinking habits.
"Yep yep! I think we're on the third floor, that's all I remember." Miu stated.
"Oh very nice! Maybe our rooms will be close together, we're on the third floor as well." Angie said happily.
"Angie and I already rented a car, if you want we can take you to the hotel with us." Himiko offered.
"Sure! We just need to grab our bags." Miu boasted.

As soon as we got to the car Angie poked her head out of the window like a dog. This was going to be a long wedding weekend.
