superficial pleasures
make it seem easy to forget
problems are profound
comprehensive, buried deep-
cry yourself to sleep
knowing within moments
you will wake and recall
the lies and the secrets
and fight again to misremember them
with shallow things
that are fleeting and futile
stick your body in the jaws
of a malnourished crocodile
knowing within moments
you will feel the agony sinking
below your skin
slick as a razor-
to shatter your bones like glass.
