Chapter 16- From the Shadows

ASH'S P.O.V.

As I walk over to The Detective Corporation, I get this unnerving feeling that I'm being followed.

I keep looking back over my shoulder to see if I can spot anyone following me, but every time I do, there's no one there.

'I don't like this.', I think.

I pick up the pace that I'm walking, still looking back to see if I'm being followed or not.

My eyes widen.

There, in an alleyway, I see five people just standing there, watching me.

'Oh fuck that!', I think.

I run.

The people standing in the alleyway immediately start to give chase after me.

"Oh fuck!", I say to myself.

I run even faster, not wanting to know why these people are chasing after me.

I see The Detective Corporation building a few blocks away, and I book it.

The people are gaining on me, slowly closing the gap between me, and them.

I run even faster, my legs starting to burn a little.

'I can't let them catch me!', I think.

Suddenly, someone comes out from a corner, and grabs me.

I yell, hoping to catch someone's attention, as I struggle with my captor.

I suddenly feel something prick my neck, and I immediately feel dizzy.

I see that whoever it is that grabbed me has injected a syringe into my neck.

I try to fight back, but my vision starts to go fuzzy.

The five people who were chasing after me have finally caught up to us.

Before I lose consciousness, I hear the person who grabbed me say something.

"We'll use him as our hostage. James won't be able to refuse our requests if we have his friend in our clutches."

'I swear that voice sounds like...', but I pass out before I can finish my thought.
