Chapter 9- Ash Ketchum

JAMES' P.O.V.

I lean on my desk with my hands against my head.

"How could she do that?", I whisper to myself.

Hope walks over to me.

She places her front left paw on my right leg.

"Are you okay?", Hope asks.

I sigh.

"No, I'm not okay. I just watched Sam break Lux's Pokeball.", I say.

Hope gasps.

She knows what happens when a Pokeball is destroyed with a Pokemon inside of it too.

"She just... she broke it like it was nothing to her.", I say, still shocked about what Sam did.

Hope lays her head on my right leg.

I reach my right hand down towards her, and pet her.

She starts purring.

I sit at my desk like this for a few more minutes, but then Tim knocks on my office door.

I look up at him.

"What?", I say harshly, wanting to be left alone.

"You have a visitor.", Tim says.

I sigh.

"Who is it?", I ask.

"He said his name's Ash Ketchum.", Tim says.

My eyes widen, and I instantly get up, startling Hope.

I walk over to Tim.

"Did you say: Ash Ketchum?", I ask him.

Tim nods.

"Do you know him from somewhere?", Tim asks me.

I don't answer him.

I walk out of my office, and towards the lobby.

'I haven't seen Ash in six years! I wonder what he's doing in Ryme City?', I think.

I enter the lobby, and I see him.

"Ash?", I say.

Ash turns around and faces me.

He smiles.

"Hey James, it's been a while.", Ash says.

I walk over to him, and hug him.

"Jesus Ash, it's been so long.", I say.

I let go of him.

"You got taller.", I say, smiling.

"Yeah, but you're still the taller one between the two of us.", Ash says, chuckling.

I cross my arms, and smirk at him.

"So, have you, caught 'em all, yet?", I ask, teasing him.

Ash laughs.

"I'm trying to.", Ash says.

Hope walks over to us.

"Who's this James?", Hope asks me.

"Oh, right. This is Ash Ketchum, he's an old friend of mine. He also gave me this hat.", I say while pointing to my hat.

"You're STILL wearing that hat?!", Ash says in surprise.

I laugh.

"Well yeah, I really like this hat.", I say.

"So it's true.", Ash says.

"What's true?", I ask.

"That you can understand Pokemon.", Ash says while motioning to Hope.

"Oh, yeah, that.", I say.

"Lucky.", Ash says, smiling.

"How long are you staying in Ryme City Ash?", I ask.

"Two weeks.", he says.

"Well, it'd be nice to catch up once I have the time.", I say.

"Well, if you wanna come and talk to me, I'm in the apartment complex that you live at. I'll see ya later James!", Ash says.

He turns around, and walks out.

'Man, it feels good to see him again.', I think.
