First night over with; an accomplishment in itself. Hunter  (thank Hell) wasn't picky. I wouldn't have to listen to complaining.

As soon as that thought left my head the phone rang. Curiosity overwhelmed me. My thoughts were cut short when he looked at me from  the bed speaking to the phone and said, "Hi Mom!" I groaned. Out loud.

      Pause.

"That's my friend Kat, Mom. I told you about her. She's Matt's  girlfriend." He looked incredibly nervous. I could tell he didn't  normally talk to his mom. "Yes," He continued after a short pause, "Of

course." Looking at me he covered the microphone. "She wants to talk to you." His eyes begged me to take the phone.

I looked up, as if considering not taking the phone. "Err...okay." I wanted to take advantage of this. I snatched the phone from his grasp and flattened it to my ear. "Yellow!" I yelled into the

receiver.

A cautious, almost shy voice answered me, "Hi, is this Kat?"

"Yes ma'am," I said letting my country twang from my birth place flow, "How're you'en?"

I internally laughed at the mental picture. It was in fact hilarious.

"Umm...where are y-y-y'all p-plannin' on heading?" she stuttered over my southern accent, and she failed in a miserable sort of way.

"South," I replied, "maybe to New Mexico. I wanna do sum dat skiin'," maybe I was a little out of line, "I think I wanna go Santa Fe. It sure is fun there," but it was so funny.

"Okay, I suppose that is alright with me. You are going to meet up with Matt there right? I thought he was kidnapped," She wasn't convinced.

"No ma'am. You have been lettin' the reporters get to ya. He wrecked his car, and then left. I had to stay a few hours later. He did borrow someone else's car. Entirely hit and run. Nothing to

report. But, he snuck off without telling his mum. He didn't think that she would let him go." I rambled off a convincing lie, "You can tell her the truth though so she doesn't worry anymore. I'm sure y'all are good friends."

"Okay, I will talk to you later. Tell Hunter I said goodbye, be safe, and have fun."

"Sure will ma'am," whew that was not at all how I wanted it to go.

I tapped at the phone and tossed it to Hunter. He snatched at it, but it slipped through his grasp and landed with a small thud on the ground. I collapsed onto the bed with laughter.

"What...kind...of...football player...are...you?" I managed to get out between fits of laughter.

He grabbed his phone off the floor, stuffed it in his pocket, and then stormed into the bathroom. I marched after him and called through the door, "Pooping won't erase your SHAME!" I yelled the last of the sentence. I made that a lot weirder than it needed to be.

      He realized.

Still upset he marched out of the bathroom. "That was rude Kat!"

"That was one of the only times you've used my name this whole trip. You should do that more to everyone," I motioned to imaginary cameras, "will know who I am."

He ran a hand through his already tousled caramel coloured hair. Realization swept through his face. "Umm...yeah, about that," he continued, "Matt didn't really like me talking to you much, so I tried not to get on a very good first name basis with you." He explained why without me asking.

Aww, Matt's the jealous type. That would be super cute if I knew why he was so jealous. "Oh?" I voiced my confusion.

"Yeah, I might have been a j-jerk a bit when talking about you."  He s-s-stuttered over the word jerk.

"That's horrible. Why did you even come with me then? Do you even care about my feelings? You were being selfish weren't you? All you wanted was your player friend back then y'all would ditch me and l-," my words were cut short as he smashed his lips against mine. He

intertwined his hand in my black scene type hair.

I jerked away, turned, and ran from the hotel room. Room 217. I might need that sometime. If, I decide to come back and get my stuff. If not I will head down to New Mexico on my own time. I had to save Matt. I almost went to Durango, Colorado, but I decided against it.

I had looked at the map of Colorado and saw New Mexico near the bottom. I knew then that I would have to go on to Santa Fe. Anyway, I told Hunter's mom I would.

I took the elevator to the bottom floor of the hotel. I was so confused. I sat down on the couch thingy in the lobby.

Burying my face in my hand I sat silently, thinking of a plan. I haven't done anything, ever, that hasn't had some sort of plan.

Suddenly I felt an arm over my shoulder and the presence of someone who sat down on my right side. I looked up and stared into the most beautiful green eyes I have ever seen.

Hunter and Matt had deep brown eyes. It wouldn't be them anyway. A gorgeous boy with a swimmer's tan was gazing at me.

"Are you alright?" He stage whispered.

I didn't know the answer but replied anyway. "Yeah just had a fight with my friend. I'm okay though." I tried for a smile but it was forced and he could tell.

"I'll walk you back to your room if you tell me your number, "Smooth. I'll give him some points.

"Two seventeen," He smiled without a flaw.

"Of course my dear lady," He grabbed for my arm and pulled me up with him.

"Name please," I said in a very ridiculous fake accent, "I can't just be courted around by strangers; my mother wouldn't approve at all."

"Ah, the name's Jame," He replied.

"Jame?" That's an interesting, and very familiar, name.

"Jame. It's like James but without the 's'. My parents had a sense of humor." I caught that.

"Past tense. What's up?" He looked sad and a little bit guilty that he mentioned it.

"My parents died when I was ten. I am 18 and traveling on vacation from my aunt," He continued with, "I love her to death, but sometimes I just need a vacation."

"Good point. I'm sorry. But, you can't change the past, just look forward to the future." What can I say; I'm a fortune cookie on legs.

      Relieved he said, "Well put."

I knew what I should say now, "You should come with us. I'm  sure he won't mind."

      "He?"

"Yeah, we aren't together don't worry your pretty little head."

"Nice," he replied in his 'I'm so cool voice'. Bleh. Jerk face.
