It's four in the afternoon when Talia gets back home and sees Damie passed out on the couch. She sees her holding a couple of envelopes in her hand all with red stamps.
She tries to gently pull it out but Damie wakes up.
"Sorry, I just wanted to check the mail." She says.
"Don't worry about it. I went job hunting today and got a job at a bank! How amazing is that?" Damie says with excitement but there's still some worry in her eyes.
"Very! What are those about?" Talia points to the envelopes in her hand.
"Oh this? Forget about it."
"I don't want to forget about it. What's up, tell me."
"Talia–"
She snatches the envelopes out of Damie's hands and reads it.
It says they only have three days to pay the mortgage or else the government will take their house. Another reads about payment for water and light and the rest is just junk mail.
"We're going to get kicked out of the house?" Talia says with shaky breathes.
Damie approaches her to hug her. "Don't worry, T, everything is going to be alright."
"I thought you said you got a job?" She swats her hand away.
"I just got it today, I'm starting next week."
"I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about before when you said you got a job at a restaurant two weeks ago. Why did you lie to me?" Talia says the pain evident in her eyes. This was their family house, they had made so much memories here and now they were going to lose it because Damie didn't want her to worry?
"I'm sorry. You were already so depressed from school, I didn't have the heart to tell you."
"So you lied to me and now we only have three days to raise a hundred dollars?! You should have just told me and then I would have gotten a job somehow, I want to pitch in Damie you can't just push me away because you feel like everything is your responsibility!" Talia runs up the stairs. Diving head first into her bed she just slumps because she doesn't have the strength to cry.
Crying was horrible. It just made her remember all the horrible things that have happened to her and then make her depressed.
"Hey Carter." She calls him.
"Talia? Why are you calling?"
"I'm fine thanks for asking. Do you know any job vacancies?"
"Why do you ask?"
"Just answer the damn question, Carter. I really need a job because I can't continue to be idle."
"Okay, okay. I don't know any job vacancies, unless you want to work at some strip club." He laughs.
"Really?" Talia asks eagerly.
"What the fuck are you thinking? I'm not giving you the address."
"I don't want to work as a stripper maybe I can work as a bartender." Talia says.
"You know nothing about being a bartender." He says.
"And you know nothing about being a waiter but here you are. Do they pay well there?"
"Probably. I don't know. Okay, I'll give you the address just don't do anything you'll regret or I'll regret."

Talia wears blacks trousers, a white button up shirt and a monkey suit. She snuck out through the back door because there is no way to put 'I'm going down to a strip club to get a job' in ways that will make any sense. She was given a job as a waiter because there were no vacancies for bartenders. Walking around and given people drinks seemed easy and the pay was huge for just serving people drinks.
According to what the manager said most people leave after a day or two and they needed more workers so they were willing to pay more. She didn't understand why someone would leave a job that paid them the amount they had told her.
They were willing to pay thirty dollars for her to work for six hours. It was five in the evening when she started working so she was ending by eleven and she had school tomorrow.
The mortgage was due in three days and in three days she would earn ninety dollars. She didn't know if the government would give her extra time so she still had to look for extra jobs to do.
The people here we're disgusting but who was she to judge. She wasn't talking about the strippers but the pigs with dicks who stared at her with lust as she passed them and the ones with the audacity to touch her.
Some men signalled her over to come give them some drinks and she grudgingly answered knowing what was coming next.
"Thank you darling, you're too kind." A man says when she drops the tray he also caresses her back making her uncomfortable.
She had lied to the management that she was eighteen so she could get the job because someone who was under aged couldn't enter a strip club talk less about working in one.
"Just doing my job sir." She says and prepares to leave.
"Why are you in such a rush? Come, why don't you sit on my lap and let's have a chat." He taps his lap offering her to sit.
She almost regurgitates the donut she ate in the afternoon.
"No. I have work to do." She leaves without another word.
"Oh come on, don't be afraid, I don't bite. At least... Not if you want me too. See this stack?" He brings out a fat stack of cash bound together with rubber bands. "It can be yours and more if you sit on my lap. That's all, just sit on daddy's lap."
An old man. Old enough to be her father wants her to sit on his lap. The money looks up to 100,000 dollars and that would do more than good for Damie and her.
She was seventeen. If she was eighteen maybe she would have done it without too much hesitation but Damie had made her believe that as long as she was still seventeen she was still a child, a baby even.
The way he looked at her made her know he wanted more than for her to just sit on his lap and his friends... Disgusting.
If she was going to do it, she would do it for Damie. They could buy new furniture and she could upgrade her wardrobe. This was an offer that she couldn't refuse.
♥♠♥
If a man asked you to sit on his lap for a hundred thousand dollars would you do it? Like, be honest. What would I do? Well...
Sit the hell out of his lap.
Sound slutty? Well, duh.
