After a year of Cole and Kai's unlikely romance, peace has settled in Ninjago. Little crims like robberies and kidnappings sprinkle the land, but it's nothing the Ninja can't handle. At least, until the government, tricked by a new evil mastermind, deem Ninja activity illegal and ban all Ninja from New Ninjago City.
Now the ninja must live in villages not far outside the city; they are forced to adopt civilian identities and live quiet lives.
Cole, itching to get back into action, get's a chance when a mysterious figure calls the Black Ninja to an island for help.
