Part I: Following an encounter with one of Safe Haven's most polarizing residents, an exchange student named D'kala N'chaba, Koko begins to struggle with her identity and beliefs. Haunted by a persistent hallucination, she finds herself searching for answers in the most unexpected of places: Safe Haven Church of God. The path she takes leads to a singular point-a culmination of everything she's experienced since her meeting with D'kala-and an utterly mind-blowing encounter with the supernatural.
Part II: Three years have come and gone since Koko left Safe Haven to "clear his head". The Battle of Xirxine, Point Nemo, the Convergence-each of these events took place in his absence. And now, upon his return, the former dancer finds that his home has changed so drastically that parts of it are barely recognizable. What exactly happened to Safe Haven? And is there anything ANYONE can do to get things back to normal?

Icarus has fallen. The powers of the Northwest Safe Haven Avatar have been stolen. The citizens of Safe Haven have lost their first line of defense. Now, in an act of desperation, three teams of have been dispatched by the Safe Haven Council to collect the absent Worthy, retrieve the missing Conqueror, and awaken the sleeping Founders. The first of these missions is the responsibility of Retrieval Team 1, who are tasked with bringing D'kala N'chaba, Kia Sosoto, and the M.I.A. Addison back to Safe Haven. However, though they now know Addison's location thanks to the card sent to his foster mother Latika, Team 1 is well aware of the fact that bringing him home is a lot easier said than done. When transfer students D'kala and Kia arrive in the whimsical world of Safe Haven, they are quickly integrated into the vast interspecies society. However, the city has much more in store for them than some new friends. As D'kala and Kia try to make an impact on the new world around them, Zoo Phoenix Academy's vice principal Zechariah makes plans to integrate the new students into the Peacekeepers' ranks as he prepares for the worst with the Breaking of the Pacts looming on the horizon. Something sinister lurks beneath the city's euphoric surface. Something that will stop at NOTHING to tear it apart from the inside out... Arthrogonian Paragon Alexis Marnozal has finally found a little slice of heaven. Her mother's plan worked perfectly, and the arthrogon race was saved. Now Alexis can live a normal life at last. Xirxine is under pressure to provide protection to the citizens, and in order to do so, they've decided to create teams compiled of the most powerful members of Safe Haven's society. Unfortunately, Knox and Sol Sky (parents of the four Cervidian siblings Autumn, Spring, Summer, and Winter) uncover a horrible revelation of what the Dark Celestials are actually planning, and they realize that the Protector Force may have bitten off more than they can chew. The Big Five are Zoo Phoenix Academy's most well-known and well-loved clique. Everyone knows Zill's witty, easy-going attitude, Kayla's sweet, selfless disposition; and Jack's awkward-but-lovable luckless quirk. And just like everyone knows the Zill/Kayla couple combo and the Zill/Jack B.F.F. combo, everyone knows that the last two members of the group are as inseparable as the others. Spam and Vanexa are the "oddballs" compared to the others (even Jack, which is saying something), and while Spam's goofiness and Vanexa's aloofness might not seem to mix, they're closer than two peas in a pod. Through thick and thin, they always stuck together, along with the rest of the Big 5. Safe Haven is on high alert. The Saved just unleashed their biggest attack on the city yet-all as a distraction to recover the cadaver of Moll Ferris, founder of the Saved. Now, having imbued her with Adina's spirit once more and joining forces with the Exorcists, they have reached their peak power. On another side of the battlefield, the Faithful have been beaten down to near extinction. Cthylla and her three most powerful followers escaped, but are on the run and searching for refuge as the heroes hunt them down. The Safe Haven "mafia", on the other hand, find themselves walking a thin line between the heroes and the Dark Celestials. They've been informed that they are nothing more than tools-pawns to be used and discarded when all is said and done. With this realization haunting them, the winds of change have begun to blow through their ranks. As the antagonists struggle to find their footing, the protagonists do the same. Xirxine and the Protectors are searching desperately for something to turn the tides of the war-to rebound from the cataclysmic failures they've repeatedly suffered. And all the while, Cameron battles her inner demon, seeking a refuge from the whispers in her mind and the darkness in her soul.
