I've been naive when I foolishly tossed my heart to the first boy I saw. I thought we'd stay best friends until the world would part us.

It did part us, just not in the way I expected.

Six years, it's been that long since Maddox Broski left without a word, and then he decides to appear and attempt to break through the thick walls I've built to protect myself from further damage.

I've took that misstep once, I'm certain I won't allow myself to repeat it twice.

I've made so many mistakes in my life. The biggest of them was leaving Quincey.

But it wasn't like I had a choice, though I knew deep down I deserved every second I spent behind bars. It was the least I had to do to atone for my shameful sins.
