Shay Bran is a city girl from Seattle that has been sent by here parents to live with here grandmother for her senior year in high school. Her grandmother isn't going to live for too much longer and the Brans want her to spend time with a grandmother that she's only met a couple of times. Shay doesn't like the thought of going to a small city to live with a stranger and leave her friends. She has no say in her life whatsoever. Jason McAdams is the mysterious next door neighbor of Shay's grandmother, Betty. He's an outcast at school and prefers it that way. Jason doesn't want anything to do with this place or anyone in it. The only other person he cares about is Betty whom he always takes care of and she accepts him and treats him like a person and like her own grandson. But when her granddaughter comes to town he never expected to have such a strong attraction to her. This whole thing that was being avoided may not be able to keep them alive much longer. They must come together and let their bond connect or it will mean their lives. They never believed this would be the fate of the universe.
