Lend me a life
I can live in the light.
Lend me a house
That whistles and hums,
Curtains adrift in yellow flight.
In this small and hollow house
The kitchen floor is paved with soil.
In the morning when I wake
Flowers stir as kettles boil.
In this house, windows watch
From every low-lit room.
Across the bay they set their sights,
Intent on sunrise bloom.
Beyond, the mountains test their height
And distant grows a dark blue gloom.
Rapturous sun sets every night
Furrowed brow relaxed and still.
Awash I am in simple light
As it rises at dawn
From sleeping hills.
