Gray and Yellow

My name is Yellow, and I fly.
I have small hips and light brown eyes.
I live in a world of color, of hue;
All that I see, every day, is new.

I have a friend named Indigo.
She loves to sink down, far below,
Into navy depths, her heartbeat slow.
She has no lungs, but serrated gills
And sleeps on peaks of water-hills.

Red's all right, but rather loud.
He seeks attention, applause, and crowds.
Feathers cloak his jagged frame,
And he hosts a sports show
Which shares his name.
Behind him, when he leaps and runs,
He leaves permanent shadows
That scar the sun.

And then there's Green,
With blade-legs of four.
They've got bright, merry eyes
And a laugh we adore.
A sapphire crest hangs from their head,
And they tie telephone lines
Up with strong thread.
At local bars, they do stand-up comedy.
We care for Green and look after them fondly.

And there's, of course, dear gentle Gray.
I love her more than words can say.
She wears long dresses and weaves on her loom;
Across her chest, white flowers bloom.
She flosses her teeth with spiders' string
And makes the black-and-ivory sing.
She has fledging shoulder blades,
Filling in with sturdy quills.
Already she drifts, but I have sworn
I'll teach her to fly higher still.

My misty, whispering Lady Gray
I fear the wind will blow you 'way.
My only hope for this long life
Is that we may together lie;
Lie as one in steeping light.
In sheets of cloud, beige breezes hum
And warmth across my body runs.

Blue won't like it, and nor will Pink
But I don't give a single thought
To what those two may think.
Blue and pink—opposing chairs.
Whether they blend together or not
Is the very least of my cares.

Though myself and darling Gray
Come from different sides of the wheel,
How could anyone stand to say
That the love we share's not real?

NOTE: It's been a while since I left one of these notes. I'd like to thank you so much for your support of this collection! I deeply appreciate you all!
