She used to be loved. Now, everyone felt pity for her.

Walking through the busy corridors of Aquarine High with her next to her was more of a nightmare than anything. She sometimes envied those who were lonely. Then, no one would care for her and act so falsely. They treated her like she was fragile.

She had feelings and she did not feel any kind of pride when people acted like she was some kind of charity case. She loved her friends, but she always felt like they didn't take her seriously.

She used to be friends with Mabel until everything was flipped upside down. She had always been a follower and the task to be a leader was too hard for her, so when Mabel got bullied, she ran away, like most of the others did. After what she had done, she couldn't look her old friend in the eye without feeling any kind of remorse. She had been disloyal and had failed in her role as a friend.

Shaking her head, returning to reality, she observed her friend group now seated comfortably. Everyone was staring at her.

"Sorry, what did you say?" she asked, confused.

"Do you know what happened to Mabel for her to suddenly switch friend groups?" Dylan questioned.

"No, not really," she lied.

It would be obvious to anyone aware of what had happened. Any bullied student would not want to stay near their bully. Unfortunately, this had been rather secretive and very few knew about it.

Suddenly, two teenagers walked past them, holding hands and giggling. They began to kiss and she couldn't help herself but feel regret.

"Carla!" her boyfriend shouted.

"Yes?' she replied.

"Where have you been all this time? I've tried calling you for the past hour and your phone was off."

He looked at her with anger licking his eyes which made her frightened body shiver. She knew what was about to happen and she had no way out; she was trapped underwater and began to drown, struggling to get out of the trouble she had fallen in.

"I - I was asleep and you know how I hate having my phone on," she hesitantly answered.

This was the worst lie she had ever come up with but it was worth trying.

"Do you think I am going to believe that? Do you think I am an idiot? Look at me when I speak to you, Carla! You were with him, weren't you?"

"What? Who are you talking about?"

He glared at Carla. "You know who I am talking about, that guy I saw you with at the library a couple of days ago. What's his name again? Jack, wasn't it?"

"It's Zach and why would I be with him?" her voice rose.

"Because I saw you with him. Baby, you know what I think about you hanging out with other boys, don't you?"
