Alina couldn't concentrate.
She ran around in circles in her room, deciding on what to wear in that awful closet of hers. Her once clean floor was now covered with tossed clothes that lay on the ground. She was excited and confused. Liam had asked her to go on a double date with Mabel, Cedric, and him. She had never been on a date. Not an official one.
So many questions raced through her head like what should she wear? How do you act when you're on a date? It shocked her at first that Liam had even asked her to go on a date with him. He was an Elite, she was a Popular. Tara wouldn't approve if she saw them. Alina didn't even know that Liam had feelings for her, but did she? Did she have feelings for Liam? Perhaps, but it was complicated.
Alina had never dated anyone or ever gone on a date. She knew Mae had a few times so she was experienced, but Alina didn't have a clue. What would she even wear? Dress up or dress down?
She ran her shaky hands through her tangled brown locks. Sweat drizzled down her pale face and Alina could feel her anxiety play up again. The butterflies that fluttered in her stomach and the bad feeling that something would go wrong, it was her anxiety.
"Alina?" Her mother called from downstairs. Alina froze, a white T-shirt that she grasped slipped through her fingers and landed on the ground once again.
"Y-yes?" She stuttered, trying hard to steady her voice. Stupid anxiety.
She heard her joyful mother laugh quietly, sighing. Alina knew she was in the kitchen, she usually was in there cooking or baking her time away. "Someone's at the door!"
Alina froze, her heartbeat quickening. She glanced at the clock. 5:45 pm.
Liam should be here at six-fifteen, not five forty-five! She grabbed a random blouse that lay on the ground in her messy bedroom. It was pink with small white flowers. It wasn't the prettiest for a date, but it would do. She rushed over to her vanity, shakily grabbing her mascara. Alina looked like a mess. The worst part was that she wasn't even ready!
"You can let them in, Mom!" Alina replied, far too occupied to go down herself. She heard her mother opening the door and some talking. Alina hoped it wasn't Liam, if so she would be so embarrassed.
The door of her bedroom suddenly opened and Alina whipped her head in that direction. She relaxed a bit, realizing it wasn't Liam, but instead Mabel.
"Mabel!" Alina smiled, calculating her friend's expression. It was a mixture of shock and disgust. Mabel grinned, hurrying over to where Alina was hastily applying makeup. Her friend was already ready, wearing a pretty little black dress and some white sneakers. Her blonde hair was up in a fashionable bun and hoop earrings dangled off her earrings.
"My goodness, Allie!" She gasped, looking around at the mess Alina had made. "What happened?"
Alina's face turned red with embarrassment. "This is me having no clue what to wear for my first date."
Mabel chuckled, shaking her head. "I can tell," she mumbled under her breath while picking up a shirt and examining it. "Let me help, it looks like you need it. Besides, I'm a professional at this."
Alina was uncertain at first. She knew Mabel was a queen at makeovers, but she was scared that they didn't have time to finish her "makeover". Besides, Mabel was famous for going full-on when it came to styling someone. She looked around her messy room. Mabel was her only option to help her look good.
"Fine," Alina groaned and Mabel clapped childishly.
She squealed. "Yay! Okay, let's get started."
Twenty minutes later, Alina and Mabel were both ready for their double date. Alina felt nervous. She didn't know Liam that well and she was scared she would mess up. The doorbell had rung and the two girls were making their way down the stairs.
