Hollywood 1995
She was nervous. Fingers tapping impatiently on the steering wheel, a rock song playing loudly in the background. Mo was staring at the unmoving traffic before her, hoping to god it would move soon. There was no way she could contact the boys to tell them she is going to be late for soundcheck. She just hoped she still had enough time to set everything up.
Her mom wouldn't let her leave before she finished her homework, grading her room like a hawk and now she is stuck in LA traffic. It's not like she was always very punctual, she had a reputation of being at least five minutes late but this? This was important; it's not every day that her best friends got to play the Orpheum. It would be the performance that changes everything.
It was late summer, Mo had just turned four years old when a new family moved in down the street. Holding her dad's hand, little feet wobbled over to meet the new neighbours. A younger woman, not much younger than her own mother, with long black hair opened the door holding a little boy in her arms. «Hello we're the Summers we live down the street and me and my daughter Molly wanted to say hi. Molly say hi.» The girl waved at the boy who grinned back. The woman let the boy down and started getting to know Mister Summers, inviting him in for a cup of coffee. The boy grabbed Mo's arm and went into the unfamiliar house pulling the girl with him. This is how Mo met Reggie. From this moment on, the two were inseparable and did every little thing together. So naturally, when Reggie met Luke and Bobby they had to be her friends as well. The same with Alex. The group officially formed at the end of 4th Grade when they all voted for it. They were now a team.
The traffic finally moved and Mo heard the CDs rattle in her trunk as her car slowly moved forward. A shriek of joy leaving her mouth. A couple of minutes later while jamming out to her favourite song, Mo arrived at the Orpheum. There were already people waiting in line which brought a big, toothy smile to Mo's face.
She walked to the front of the line ignoring the shouts and complaints of the ones waiting. "Hi. I'm Molly the manager of Sunset Curve. I'm so sorry I'm late I was stuck in traffic. Do you have a place where I could set up the Demo CDs and our shirts?" She introduced herself to the bouncer.
He eyed her up, her mix-matched vans not getting unnoticed, his eyes getting stuck on the backstage pass hanging from her neck. "Uhm yeah sure. Just bring your stuff in and there should be a table in the back for you to set up." She thanked him with a big, gorgeous smile and went back to the car to get her stuff.
Struggling to hold all the boxes, she made her way into the Venue. This thing was a maze, she got lost like four times before even remotely walking in the right direction. It worried her that she didn't hear any music, meaning she was probably late. Silently cursing, she hoped the boys wouldn't be too mad. But then she heard some familiar voices talking to each other.
"Can you own your awesomeness for once?"
"Reggie is right you guys were the bomb!" Mo said walking in the room, gaining the attention of the sweaty boys.
