A lot can change over the course of a year and two months.

Elvis took the offer given to him by Sam Phillips and in what seemed like a short time the full record Elvis had recorded over a months time took off like lightning.

Just as he finished off his schooling he started recording another album....

It seemed like the man had less and less time to spend with his 'Little Sister' Norma Jeane, but she was happy her E was following his dreams.

After three months of fame to the suggestion of Mr. Phillips Elvis got a manager. A man named Colonel Parker, Norma only got the chance to meet the man once.

Three more months zoomed by and Elvis celebrated not only his nineteenth birthday, but also a payment of the most money he or his family had ever seen.

Needless to say Vernon didn't think the boys dreams were all that silly now.

With his new found riches Elvis first got his mother all new dresses, then he got what parts his daddy needed for the family car and last he bought Norma and her grandmother a two bedroom upstairs home with a nice yard.

"What about you?" Norma had asked after the excitement of the new house had gone.

Elvis was standing in the front yard of the yellow home with Norma why everyone else looked inside.

"Um- About that Little One." Elvis started not sure how he was going to break the news to her. He knew no matter what he got her or her grandmother Notma wouldn't like the news.

"Yea?" The now eleven year old girl asked. Bright eyes looking up at the singer. "I-I already got us a place." He said with a sigh. "Is it close to this one?" She asked pointing at the new home.

"N-No. Far actually. See Sam sold my contract to a bigger company and I-I'd have to go away."

Tears started to fill the girls eyes.

Marie couldn't believe the size of the home. "That son of your is a real saint." She said unpacking a box with Gladys.

"Yea well at least I know I did something right." Vernon said hanging a photo up for Marie. "This look straight?" The man asked.

"I'll never see you again!" Norma yelled, body shaking. "I can still visit ya honey." He whispered heart broken. Elvis bent down to her level and pulled her into a hug. "I'll miss you." She whispered, hugging him back. Elvis sighed, closing his eyes.

"I know sweet heart, me too." He muttered.

"Oh no. I guess he told her." Gladys muttered, looking out the window at her son holding a very upset Notma.

"Told her what?" Marie asked softly from the kitchen. "Sam sold the contract to a larger conpany and so Elvis has to move."

"Where?" The older woman asked with a real worry in her voice. "Memphis, Tennessee." Gladys answered.

"He got us a new home on a ranch and he got himself a nice place- He says he's got people working on it right now. Fixing up somehow." The man said shrugging his shoulders.

"Norma will be crushed without him. Elvis is her only friend. She loves your boy."

Gladys was about to say Elvis loved Norma too, when Vernon cut in.

"If you ask me this will be good for them both. That little girl thinks too much of him. She loves him in more ways than a friend and we all know it- He knows it and yet he still continued to hang around a child. I never liked it, it makes him and us look bad!" Vernon ranted.

His wife huffed. "Nobody asked you!" She snapped. "They grew up together, she loves him and thats okay!" She continued before he could say anything. "He feels strongly about her too. I always thought if she got a little older. Say sixteen then theyd make a lovly pare."

Verson rolled his eyes. "You forgetting they both age? When she's sixteen Elvis would be twenty-something!" Marie sighed. "I know that but-." Marie started to say when the door burst open and Norma ran inside.

"Norma!" Elvis called running after her. "The poor dear." Gladys muttered. A door was slammed upstairs and Marie sighed.

"She'll get over it, over him in time, just you wait." Thr man muttered.

Elvis opened the door that had just been slammed in his face to find Norma crying on the bed.

"Hey Norma, I-I really am sorry. I hate that I won't be seeing you like normal, but I'm actually doing what I always wanted- And I get good pay from it! Norna, this was all thanks to you. You helped me pay half for that first record- So-So you and your grandmother are getting half of what I make. I want to help you both since his passing. I don't want your granny or -Or my parents working like dogs for scraps anymore. I want you to have everything you need and whatever you want."

He whispered now sitting on the edge of her bed. She sniffed, glancing up at him. He had a stuffed bear, he had won her a few years back at the town carnival, in his hands.

"New toys or dresses anything!" He said seeing her attention on him. Her face was red and she was still a shaken mess.

All at once she flung herself onto him. Hugging the man with all her strength. "I don't want new stuff Elvis, I want you!" She muttered. He sighed, rubbing her back.

"I know, but things are going to get a lot easier for everyone. And once I'm gone a few weeks you'll move on and forget about me. You'll make all new friends and-."

"Never! I'll never forget you!" She whispered. "I-I love you Elvis." He smiled, squeezing her a little tighter. "I love you too." He muttered, pulling away to look at her face.

He sighed and kissed her forehead gently. "And I always will Norma, after all your my little sister." She sniffed, looking into his eyes.

"Promise me you'll come back?" He smirked. "Hey now I wouldn't dream of ataying away too long." She gulped looking down. "And you'll call me?" He chuckled. "Every chance I get. My free time will be phone time with you." She sighed.

She hugged him again. Arms tightly around his neck. She took a chance and kissed him on the cheek.

He grinned, humming her song. " I wish I was older." She muttered.

He sighed. "Don't rush it." He muttered holding her close. "If I was older, more your age- Elvis, would you love me like I do you?" He sighed looking into her eyes.

"I will always love and protect you alright? I will always be there for my Norma." He whispered looking into her puffy eyes.

"Promise?" She asked softly. He couldn't help but smile. "Cross my heart." She grinned looking around the room.

"Why dont me and you go see if they need anymore help downstairs?" Elvis asked watching her.

"Okay." Elvis stood and took her hand after she got off him. "Have you seen the back yard?" He asked as they started out kf the room. "No." She asnwered. "I bet I can beat ya there!" He snapped taking off. She gasped and took of after him.

"Elvis!"
