Norma sat on the edge of her bed, it was the first time since Elvis got back home that she was over at Graceland. She watched the white snow fall from the other side of the glass, the moon was shining brightly in the cloudless night shy, Norma sighed glanced at the shinning stars. This would be a perfect night- If her world hand to come crashing down on her just a few hours before.
Elvis sighed sitting in his living room. The TV was playing Manley as background noise. His right leg wouldn't stop bouncing, his mind raced with thoughts of his little Norma. He didn't want to upset her, but it was just how things had to be- It was the responsible, adult thing to do-The right thing to do.
Gladys sighed backing in the kitchen. She had the light on and the oven pre-Heatings. At the Moment she was working on mixing cup cake batter.
The up stairs hall light come on and the floor squeaked. "What are you doing out of bed woman?" Vernon asked as he slowly made his way down the steps. "I can't sleep- Thinking about the poor dear." The woman muttered. "I think the boy did the right thing- But now if he ask me I think he should have done it a long time ago." Gladys scoffed. "I didn't asked you!" She snapped, placing her hands on her hips. The man smirked, looking his wife up and down. "You think too much of that little thing." Vernon muttered, snatching the wooden spoon from the bowl. Gladys rolled her eyes. "She's a wonderful, intelligent, beautiful little girl. She-."
Vernon crossed his arms. "Key word Gladys, little girl. Elvis is in his twenties and shes still a child! This woman he told us about- she's twenty, just a few years difference. She's a woman, with a woman's body and needs and he's the right age and mind to give her that. This relationship is the right one for him- Norma will move on- she's at that age now once she's over the boy that she'll go goo goo for the next young attractive boy that breaths and even glances her way!." Gladys huffed and smacked her husbands arm, making him drop the spoon.
"Your just not understanding this! Elvis and Norma are meant to be together! It's what her grandmother wanted for her- It's what Norma wants and -." Vernon uncrossed his arm and moved his wife's finger out of her face. "And she's just a child! She didn't truly know what she wants! She most definitely didn't know what she needs! And she's basically become our daughter damn it- So that makes her his little sister- You know the name he calls her!" Gladys should have been pissed off. Vernon was waiting for his wife to really give it to him, but she was silent.
"You called Norma your daughter!" Gladys snapped with a smile. Vernon rolled his eyes, but let his grinning wife pull him into a hug.
(Flashback)
Norma took a deep breath and closed her bedroom door. She slowly turned to see Elvis sitting on her bed, looking at an old Photo of the pare, back before he got famous.
