Norma ran down the sidewalk with the record in her hand. "I told ya E! I told you!" Elvis laughed following along. To see that smile on her face Elvis would pay any amount of money.

"Mr. Phillips said you got it!" She squealed. "Still not so sure what it is Norma." He said with a sigh.

"Gladys!" Norma yelled. "You alright dear?" The woman asked from the kitchen. "More than just alright. Come over to my apartment- Elvis have a surprise for you!"

Just as fast as she came, Norma left. "Wonder what that boys up to now?" Vernon asked from the couch. "Why don't we go find out." Gladys said with a happy smile. Norma stood waiting for the Presleys in the hallway. Her excitment killing her.

"A real Record? My my." Marie said with a grin. "It's nothing." Elvis said softly. "I only did it for Norma." Elvis said waiting for the girl to return with his parents.

"You know Elvis, you mean a lot to her. She has a love for you that most people can't find anymore." Elvis smirked. "I know. People talk and I hate the way they do- I got called  some terrible things today. Norma got into a fight over everything  and-."

"She's a tough little thing." Marie interrupted. "But she has to be. All I want is for her to live her best life. I wish I could afford more- Do more for her. I-."
Elvis touched the womans hand.

"You do everything you can. Without you Norma would be completely alone." Marie sighed. "Not completely." The look on the elderly womans face made Elvis wonder what she was thinking about. It looked like she had something she wa ted so say, but she wasnt sure how to say it.
"Elvis, I want you to promise me something- Can you do that?" She asked in a soft tone. Her eyes were large as she looked at the teenager next to her.

"Yes." Elvis said without hesitation. He'd do just about anything for Norma and her grandmother.

"When I g-go. I'm not getting any younger see and-. When I do die would you- Take care of my Norma Jeane. Make sure shes alright and that she has whatever she needs?" Elvis smiled. "Of course. I love that little thing." He said with a smile.  Marie smirked. "I know."

She had s feeling that when her grabddaughter got older she and Elvis would become a couple and Marie was alright with that. In fact she prayed for it to happen- Elvis was a good man with a bright future. He worked hard and cared about Norma.

The front door opened and Norma could be heard repeating 'come on- hurry!'

Elvis laughed sitting on the couch. "We ready now?" Elvis asked. "Yep!" Norma said with a happy smile. "Sit here!" Norma said pointing to the couch. Gladys and Vernon both sat on the couch. Marie laughed from her rocking chair. "Go on E!" Norma said walking to the man she handed him the record.

"Whats going on?" Gladys asked softly. "And what happened to your face?" Vernon asked.

"Its not important right now- What is is that on our way back here we found something really amazing!" Elvis smiled.

"What-Whats so amazing?" Gladys asked. "That old building got turned into a real life recording studio!" Norma said happily

Vernon siged. "And?" Gladys smacked her husbands leg. "Don't." She muttered. Marie grinned. "Elvis made a record." The elderly woman said with a smile.

"What?" Gladys asked." He sure did! He got to record two whole songs in a real studio. He had back up singers and a really nice piano to play! Mr. Sam Phillips even said Elvis had it! Play it E- Play it!" Elvis smiled and walked to the record player. "Alright." Elvis dropped the needle on side A and smiled.

"This is my side!" Norma said happily, dancing around the room. "The next side is yours mama." Elvis said with a smile.

Norma was laying on the living room floor, Playing the record for the thousandth time. She was humming a long with her eyes closed. Her grandmother said if she really wanted to she could sleep in the living room. But Marie was confused why the girl wasnt on the couch.

"The couch is softer than that old floor Norma." Marie said from her bedroom. "But its farther away from the recordplayer." Norma said softly. Her grandmother sighed and closed her door.

Elvis was laying in bed that night thinking about everything. He did really like the idea of singing full time, yet it all seemed like a silly dream. His daddy even said it was all for nothing. He ranted after they got home that Elvis tossed away his two dollars he payed.

But Gladys loved the record just as much as Norma. She, like Norma encouraged Elvis to talk to Sam about everything.

Maybe he would. ..
