CHAPTER NINE - THOUGHTS

ISAVELL'S POV

Okay, now what?

Siya yung ipapakasal sa akin?

Aayaw ka pa ba ulit, Vell?

Ma-Malamang! I-I'm still young!

Weh? Eh akala ko ba may something ka na for him?

S-Shut up! It's still not enough to get married!

Tingnan mo nga siya ngayon tapos sabihin mo ulit na hindi pa rin enough.

I looked at the guy across my chair and he just smiled at me. He even mouthed 'You okay?'

So, 'di pa rin enough, Vell? I shook my head. Saka ko lang na-realize yung ginawa ko. Tiningnan ko ulit si Rain, nakakunot na yung noo niya.

"What happened?" Napatigil ang lahat sa pagkain at pakikipag-usap because of Rain's question. 'Di ko naman sinagot 'coz that'll be awkward, pero nagtanong ulit siya, not minding anyone else. "Hey, anong nangyari? Ba't 'di ka okay?"

There was definitely an awkward silence, but I chose to answer him. He's still your friend, Vell. Don't make him look stupid in front of everybody, join him with open arms!

"Nah, I'm okay. May iniisip lang." I smiled at him.

"Bakit ka pala 'di nakapasok ngayon?" He casually asked, still not minding the others.

"Something happened," Parang kinidnap ako. "And then, here I am."

"Bakit 'di ka nagrereply?" My phone got confiscated.

"Nawala ko. Hindi ko na nga maalala kung saan ko nailagay eh." He seemed to buy it.

"So, Isavell... How long have you known our Alfonz?" Mrs. Esguerra asked me. Sa hindi ko malamang dahilan, bigla akong nakaramdam ng kaba. Like I have to impress them.

Akala ko ba hindi enough‽ Eh bakit nagpapa-impress ka sa future in-laws mo‽

Hindi ko pinansin yung sinasabi ng other side ko. "Umm... We met four or five weeks ago po, Ma'am." She smiled and I felt relieved.

"And you consider each other as..." Mr. Esguerra hanged the sentence.

"Friends," Rain and I said at the same time, kaya naman pareho kaming natawa.

"If you're already friends, don't you want to level up?" biglang sulpot ni Mom. Halata naman kay Rain na nailang siya.

Nakakainis naman eh! Halata namang hanggang friends lang kami eh.

"I don't think Isavell would want to enter a relationship when there's no love present on it po, Mrs. Rivas," magalang na sagot ni Rain. See? See‽ I had to hear it from him! Nakakaasar!

Bakit ako naaasar? Bakit ako nasasaktan?

"Why? Don't you find Isavell pretty?"

"Mom."

"I'm just asking, Isavell. It's impossible for this fine gentleman not to find you pretty." Naramdaman kong nandilim yung paningin ko.

"Sam, you don't have to ask that," pagpigil ni Tito Joseph.

"I'm just curious, Joseph. It's a harmless question, isn't it, Rain?" Mom even faked her smile.

"You don't have to answer it, Rain." Buti pa si Tito Joseph nakakaramdam.
