CHAPTER FIVE - GETTING CLOSER
ISAVELL'S POV
It's been three weeks since that very first performance happened and within those days, I have always waiter and have been substituting Ate Iska whenever her son needs her or the audience requested for me, and I... I started to notice Rain more.
At first, lalapit lang siya sa akin sa may bar everytime I finish performing, but I'm pretty sure that he was always here at the bar. Madalas kasi na ako ang naghahatid sa kanya ng order niya dahil nasasakto sa akin.
He would always smile at me and greet me. And then little by little, I became comfortable with him.
"So, pagkatapos mo rito, you'll go home and bake?" I nodded. "But you're still not going to let me come with you?" I nodded again. "And now I'm sad again." He pouted and I can't help but smile.
"Para kang ewan, I work alone, remember?" It was his turn to nod. "And I told you that I'll call you if ever I need help, remember?" He nodded again, still pouting. What a cute guy—did I just say cute?
Eh‽ Do I find Rain cute?
I can't help but stare at him, trying to analyze the reason why I called him cute.
"W-Why are you staring?" He seemed uncomfortable.
"I'm sorry for making you feel uneasy, but I'm just trying to figure things out."
"What kind of things?"
"The reason why I find you cute." He was taken aback by my honesty.
"Hoy, love birds, mamaya na 'yang pagpapakalap niyo ng sweet aroma rito sa bar at baka langgamin kami." I heard Ate Ruby talk behind the bar.
"I'm sorry, Ate Ruby. I'll get back to work." I began getting the trays and delivering them to their respectful tables.
It's Monday today, kaya wala masyadong customers, plus malapit na rin mag close yung bar kaya paubos na nang paubos ang mga tao.
Finally, I'm going home and I'll get to be... alone... again... What's new?
"Ihahatid na kaya kita. Don't worry, 'di naman ako papasok sa bahay niyo. I just wanna make sure that you'll go home safely." I smiled when I heard Rain's offer.
"Ilang linggo na akong umuuwi't pumapasok mag-isa, Rain. Imposibleng may mangyari sa aking masama."
"We can never tell what might happen." My face never lost its smile. "I can feel it... You'll let me..." I can't help but chuckle.
"Okay okay, fine. But you promised that you won't enter the house, right?"
He crossed his heart. "Promise." Natawa na naman ako.
"Okay okay, I'll just change my clothes then we'll head out." He nodded and so, I went ahead and changed fast.
I wasn't really expecting him to wait for me—I mean maybe a bit but that's not my concern right now tss—I seriously thought that maybe he was just playing a prank on me or I don't know. He really seems like a good guy, but letting people enter your life only means you're giving them the right to hurt you.
I sighed. I always overthink, I can't even help it.
I finished making myself presentable—even though I, myself, don't know why—and I headed to the tables-and-chairs area.
They were closing the bar and as I looked around, I couldn't find Rain anywhere inside the bar. I really thought he had already left me. I mean why would he even waste his time trying to get to know me? He won't get anything from me.
