CHAPTER THIRTEEN - RAIN IS FALLING
RAIN'S POV
For the first time ever since I entered the Rivas' household, I was taken aback by a picture of a girl in a frame, along with Jason's photos.
"Who is she? I never heard of you having a sister," I quickly asked Jason, my best friend, who stood right next to me.
"I never had. Not until Dad's mistress came into the picture." There was hatred in his tone, and I understood why.
"Bro, you can always try being nice to her. I mean your parents broke up before your dad met Tita Sam." And of course, I received a glare from him. "I mean, you can start by not calling her a mistress because technically, she's not."
He sighed showing that he understood my point. "Fine, I'll start from that, but I can't promise that I'll be entirely good to her."
I smiled at him. "That's a good start. Anyways, you haven't answered my question."
He grinned at me. "Why? Don't tell me you're already interested in her."
I shrugged, still with a smile. "You can't deny that she's pretty."
He lost his grin. "That's the daughter of the woman I currently hate, why would I compliment her? She looks ugly to me."
I chuckled at his statement. "Whatever you say, bro. But seriously, do you know her name?"
"Of course not. I don't care about her. All I know is that she won't be living with us. She stays with her dad and that works fine with me." Bigla naman siyang tumalikod, obviously to change the topic. "Come on, aren't you hungry? I wanna eat before heading to the basketball court."
I took one more glance at the girl in the picture before running after Jason, who literally left me. I smiled again. Hoping to meet you soon, Ms. Jason's stepsister.
And destiny didn't fail me. Two years after that incident, I saw her at a market, I think she was with a maid. She looked happy while listening to the adult who was pointing at the meat section. It looked like the maid was explaining things to her. I wasn't really near them. It just so happened that we got stuck in traffic and we stopped across that market. I can't really remove that face of hers in my mind, that's why it was easy for me to recognize her.
"Alfonz, are you okay?" I heard my mom's voice making me lose my attention on that girl's smile.
"I'm fine, Mom. Why?" I smiled at her.
"I was talking to you but you didn't respond." She stared at me before shaking her head. "Anyways, about your school, have you chosen your high school?"
"Not yet, but I had some options in my mind." My mom just nodded and went back to talking with my dad. Unfortunately, the car is moving and I can't find her anymore. But I never lose hope. It's a small world that we have, it won't be impossible if I see her again.
And for the second time, I was right. I was already in high school and we were on a field trip, specifically inside a museum, when I suddenly saw her, looking at the old musical instruments section.
I left my line and walked in her direction, but suddenly stopped midway 'coz I have no concrete plan on how to introduce myself to her. How can I be close to her without looking weird or creepy?
I couldn't think of any way and so I slowly went back to my classmates. Kaya lang may biglang bumangga sa akin, and I almost fell, good thing someone caught me right on time.
