Ananta pov

I layed on the ground not really having anything to do. The goblins were finishing up the makeshift wall and Rimuru was setting up his steel threads trap. My dragon form wouldn't be helpful for eather task.

Quiet whispers beside my ear led me to lift my head to see a group of small goblin children approaching me hesitantly. I stayed still in hopes of not scarring them away and once they were fairly close I slowly raised me head to look at them.

The children froze in their advance, some trying to hide behind those in the front. The small child in the front was braver then her companions and slowly began to inch towards me. In response I lowered my head towards her.

I seriously felt like toothless when the girl reached out with her hand, making contact with my scales. I leaned in slightly to the touch making the girl smile widely as her eyes lit up with sparkles. I probably could have died on the spot right there it was so cute.  Seeing that it was ok the other children followed their friends example and I was very quickly sorrounded by smiles and laughter.

40 minutes later--

"How did I turn into the village babysitter?"

For the past few minutes the children had gotten more comfortable around me. So much so that I was now swinging my tail in the air while they hung off of it happily, and my wing was being used as a slide for the others.

I smiled watching the children enjoy themselves despite the circumstances. I had always had a weak spot for children. Hopeing someday to have some of my own. I wonder if that will ever happen now?

"Great Ananta?"

I was pulled out of my thoughts when the same girl from before got my attention. "Sorry about that darling, is something the matter?"

"Well.." the shilted her feet looking a little apprehensive.

"Yes, go on it's ok."

She rung her hands together and looked up at me. "I know great Rimuru and you are really strong. But do you really think we can defeat the dire wolves?'

I felt my smile falter a bit. Seeing the children laughing and playing I had almost forgotten the kind of lives these children had led. As low ranking monsters they were simple prey for those stronger than them. Even their past hero had been killed by the wolves. She was scared, and no child should ever have to fear for their lives.

Reaching out a talon I taped the top of the small child's head making her look up at me. Her waivering eyes met my own and I put as much confidence and reassurance in to my gaze.

"Don't you worry about a thing darling. Do you know how strong dragons are?"

"Super strong." She answered in a soft voice.

"Right! And I will never lose to a bunch of mutts like those wolves."

The child's face lit up and the smile returned to her face. "Promise?"

I nodded. "Promise. Now go run of and play."

I watched as she did just that and after checking to make sure nobody was doing anything crazy I allowed my gaze to slide over to the adults and Rimuru working hard to set everything up before the sun set behind them. There wasn't much time left.

I laughed dryly. "To think one of the first thinks I do in a new world is go to war with a bunch of wolves."

3rd pov

The sun soon fell below the Mountains replaced by the howls of dozens of wolves. Rimuru stood infront of the wall, the goblins behind ready to fight. The children cowerd underneath Ananta's large wings, which she wrapped tightly around them. Ready to jump in at only moment to help fight should the plan go south.

As much as Ananta wanted to be infront beside the slime it wasn't logical. Seeing a dragon the wolves were likely to panic and run away. But that was only a temporary solution and they needed a perminant one.

The wolves arrived and the battle began. Rimuru gave the leader a chance to retreat which only offended him. The wolves charged not expecting to be taken down by the goblins bows and Rimuru's steel threads.

This infuriated the leader  even more, who blindly charged forward, breaking through the steel threads with his teeth. His rage led him right into Rimuru's sticky thread trap, rendering him immobile. Not waisting a second Rimuru used his water slash to cut the wolfs head clean off mid threat.

The body fell to the ground while Rimuru called to the remaining wolves. "Your leader is defeated. Submit or die!"

Ananta mentally facepalmed at her friends stupidity. "Rimuru!" She called out through the mind link. "If the leader got mad at threats Mahat makes you think the rest are just going to lie down quietly!"

"Woops" was the slimes only reply as the wolves growled and charged. "Ananta! What do I do?!"

Ananta metaly rolled her eyes. "Wolves submit to the strongest alpha. Absorb the lead wolf and use the fear skill he used on the wolves."

Catching on quickly, Rimuru absorbed the dead wolf and used his mimic skill to turn himself into a wolf. He then used the absorbed menace skill. The skill sent an almost visible wave towards the wolves

It reminded Ananta of when Rimuru first tried talking. The sound acting like a physical force pushing back the wolves.

"Ok this should deffi..SHIT! Ananta there still advancing!"

"I can see that!" Ananta stood up ready to rush to Rimuru's aid just as the wolves layed down in front of Rimuru with a whimper.

"Our pack yields to you!" They called out.

"Huh?" The slime and dragon said at the same time.

"Does...does this mean we won?" The elder goblin asked as Rimuru returned to his slime form.

"Yeah, looks that way." He told them. "Good thing there's no need to fight anymore. Yep, yep. Nothing beats peace."

The goblins burst into cheers behind him at the end of the battle. Ananta letting out a sigh of relief as the children caught onto the mood and began cheating themselves.

And so the battle with the wolves ended fairly quickly. Now there was just one more thing to do.
Figure out what to do with all the wolves. But for Ananta that sounded like a tommorow problem.

Timeskip-----

Tommorow arrived sooner than Ananta would have liked. But there she stood beside Rimuru overlooking all the goblins and wolves before them.

Ok well I want everyone to pair up with a wolf Rimuru told them. And so after a couple confused seconds during which Rimuru had to explain what "pair up" meant each goblin was partnered with a wolf. Once that was all settled Rimuru explained the rest.

"Now then, next order of business is to seperate into three groups. One to fortify the defences, a second to collect food and a third to make food and clothing. Ok.. umm. What's your names again he asked the elder."

"Monsters do not normally have names." The elder answered. "We can still communicate our thoughts without them."

"Still." Ananta cut in. "It's kind a hassle isn't it?"

Rimuru nodded along. "Yes, I would like to name you all."

The two friends were surprised when all the goblins and wolves cheered at this. Shirley it wasn't that big of a deal? All the goblins formed two lines, one in front of Rimuru. The other in front of Ananta. And so the village naming began. Rimuru named the village elder and his son while Ananta got to name the children. Something she was more than happy to agree to.

By the time they had gotten through all the goblins Ananta was staring to feel slightly tired. Rimuru had already finished with his line of goblins and had just named the new wolf leader, Ranga.

Ananta's head was thrown up at the sound of Rimuru's sound of distress. His body went limp over the wood he was sitting on.

"Rimuru!" Ananta tried to run to her friends side but her body gave out underneath her. Her vision went black to the sound of worried goblins around her.

"What on earth? Wait, is this planet even called earth?"
