The sky was dark and cloudless as I flew overhead Rimuru and the rest of the party towards the Lizardmen's marshland home. From my vantage point I had a clear view of the entire party as well as any threats that may try an ambush from any direction. The party was fairly small consisting of only Rimuru, Ranga, the kijin, save for Shuna and Kurobe, as well as the Goblin riders. The rest we had left behind to watch the village in our absence.
"Great Rimuru, Great Ananta, a moment?"
I perked up hearing Souei's voice call out to the two of us.
"What's up Souei?" Rimuru asked.
"I have come across two groups currently engaged in battle. One of them is the personal guard of the Lizardmen chieftain, he reported. They appear to be fighting a high ranking Orc. What action shall I take?"
"Well I mean.." Rimuru hummed out. "We have to help them, don't we?"
I rolled my eyes at the slime. "Yes Rimuru, it would probably be a good idea to help the individual we plan to make a treaty with."
I couldn't be certain but I was pretty sure Rimuru grumbled out something about not having an ice heart, but I chose to ignore it with a small smile.
"Can you win?" Rimuru asked Souei.
Without missing a beat and with total confidence Souei replied. "A simple task." It wasn't a cocky confidence either. He was simply stating facts.
"Do it." Rimuru ordered. "We'll be there soon."
"Understood."
Looking down I watched at the advancing party took on a battle formation, speeding up a bit. I flaped my own wings to match the speed and lowered my altitude a bit
In the end there wasn't much need for it though. By the time we arrived Souei had already disposed of all the enemy orcs. Their remains still littering the sorrounding forest. In the middle of the small clearing Souei crouched holding a wounded female Lizarman in his arms. I landed onto the ground behind Rimuru just as he finished giving the girl a healing potion.
"M..my wound!" She exclaimed sitting up abruptly. "I thought it was fatal. Wh..who are you?" She asked Rimuru who stood back up to stand beside me.
"I'm Rimuru Tempest, and this is Ananta." He told her Introducing the both of us.
The moment the girl hear our names she leaned forward pressing her head to the ground. "I must ask a favor of you! Please save my father, the Lizardmen chieftain, and my brother Gabiru!"
"Your Gabiru's sister?" Rimuru asked a little surprised, not that I could blame him after having met the male reptile, and she nodded in confirmation.
"What happened to your father and brother." I prompted.
"My brother led a rebellion and imprisoned the chieftain." "he explained and me and Rimuru looked at eachother in surprise.
"I believe he intends to repel the orc army on his own. But he has underestimated the Orc Lord. If we take no action, the Lizardmen will surely be exterminated. My father helped me escape during a lapse in the guard's attention. I am aware that this is a selfish request, after we broke our promise to wait for you, but I implore mercy from you! Please....please!"
Before either me or Rimuru could reply to her request Shion steped forward placing her hand on the girls shoulder and once again accepting the request on our behalf. I covered a laugh at the sight. I had suggested Shion as Rimuru's sercetary partly for revenge and partly because we couldn't find anything else for her to do. But watching her so readily accept work for for him like a real secretary made me laugh.
