Word spread like wildfire through the village of the new child and everyone came rushing to see him. Although I didn't really want to, I handed the child back to his parents and exited the tent to make space for the others coming and going.
"Sorry about that." I apologized to Benimaru and Souei as I approached them. "I kinda just ditched you guys there."
"You have nothing to apologize for." Benimaru quickly assured me. "Is the mother going to be ok now?"
I smiled happily. "it was a little touch and go there for a bit but both Rohana and her baby are going to be just fine."
"I'm glad to hear that." Benimaru said.
"Are you alright?" Souei asked stepping forward. "I felt a large transfer of majicules within the room. I assume that was you."
"Ya." I answered rubbing my neck a little sheepishly. "I didn't really know what else to do in the situation and that's just the first thing that come to mind."
"Rest assured I am not judging your decision." Souei said. "Yes, the technique you performed is considered quite dangerous, as forcing the majicules out of your body in such a way can kill the individual."
I froze with wide eyes. "Kill what now?!"
"However," Souei continued, ignoring my question. "The fact that you would go so far just to save a single individual had showed me just how much you care for these villagers." He placed his fist across his chest and leaned over in a bow. "I am honored to serve someone such as yourself."
I blinked shocked by this. Did I really just get complimented by the silent ninja? I coughed a bit getting the man's attention to rise back up.
"I am really glad that you feel that you can trust me Souei. I thank you for your kind words and I truly hope our trust will only grow from here on out. While we are on the subject I believe we still have to discuss the roles me and Rimuru had in mind for the two of you."
Benimaru and Souei shared a glace as I led the two away from the growing crowd to somewhere quieter. That place was one of the tree stump tables we used for meals and parties. I sat down at one of the tables with the other two taking a seat across from me.
"As I am sure both of you have probably noticed." I started one we were all seated. "Is that in the village we really don't have any effective ways to protect ourselves against strong forces. The occasional monster attack we can easily fend off, but when I comes to powerful enemies, like this orc army, me and Rimuru are really the only front liners. I fear for our citizens safety, and that is where I would like to ask the two of you for your help."
"You wish for us to turn your men into soliders?" Benimaru asked catching on quickly and I nodded in agreement.
"I realize this is a lot to ask since our alliance is only temporary. But Souei, we would like for you to lead a scouting party for reconnaissance and information gathering. You will have free will to chose your own methods and subordinates of course. And Benimaru, we would like for you to become the commander of a fighting force. I believe that with both you and Hakurou, we will be able to form a substantial fighting force in no time."
Both men looked at eachother before back at me. "Although we have only known eachother for a short time you have already proved to us how much you care for your people. It would be our pleasure to train your men." Benimaru said.
I smiled widely hearing this. "Thank you, you two, it truly means a lot. Now enough about buisness. A baby has just been born and I for one think this calls for a celebration!"
And so I declared at all work be put on hold till tommorow. We decided to hold off a large party untill after Rohana had recovered a bit more but that didn't stop everyone from eating and drinking to their hearts content that night.
