As I walk down the stairs after getting off the plane, I was immediately greeted with a field of white filled with black mountain peaks on the horizon.
Me: "who would've thought that Antarctica was this cold? Like couldn't global warming be faster?"
Getting down the oddly shaped plane, I began to walk towards the entrance with 2 security escorts, since they didn't look like much, I won't bother to remember them.
This has an odd design, I mean I don't see anything that could count as a research station...
Wait nevermind I see it.
Noticing me shivering, one of the big security guys laughed at my expenses even as I try to glare at him.
After a few seconds, I gave up as the cold forced me to move my leg to get inside the facility
Getting inside the elevator, one of the buff guys pressed a button that would send the elevator down to the basement.
Announcement: "Lower level 5, chosen"
Mumbling to myself,
Me: "God, you'd think they'll treat someone as talented as me who's got 3 PhDs at the age of 27 a bit better considering I've got plenty of other offers from dozens of other positions."
Before I was suddenly slapped on the back.
It was a heavy slap.
It's embarrassing that I almost fell down
I don't deserve this embarrassment
As I turned around to glare at the buff dude, the other one suddenly put his arms around my shoulders.
Security Guy 2: "listen, newbie, sorry to burst your bubble, but...Ah.." he looked down before coming back up, sighing as he did, both his eyebrows raised "this is perhaps the largest concentration of the smartest people on the planet. Your ego will definitely be stomped on when you enter here. Hell, all the Level 3 and above Espers here are super-geniuses that can put the likes of Einstein to shame."
My eyebrows furrowed as we reached the floor. Stepping outside, I was greeted with a clean hallway, white light above us.
The hallway leads to a blast door of sorts.
Jeez, just what are they storing in here and Espers? Those who can use Extra Sensory Perception? Did I board the right flight? I thought my internship here is supposed to learn about the Antarctic Drilling Expedition.
???: 'You most certainly did, Mr. Neumann.'
I looked around, trying to find the one who called out to me.
She...Wasn't there before, hallucinations?

Security Guy 2: "why are you stopping? The lounge area is up ahead"
He says as if there isn't a human beside him
Left eye twitching, I asked him an obvious question
Me: "do you not see her beside you?"
Both of them blinking in surprise before Security Guy 1's shoulder slumped and Guy 2 groaned, facepalming
Looking around, Guy 1 called out
