"Ah yes, what a peculiar thing..." The hat mumbled to itself, but both kids could hear loud and clear. Y/N gave Thea a look of concern.

She waved them off. "Don't worry, it always does this."

The hat went on. "Quite a tender little thing really, and cares for others with all their heart despite not knowing them...Hufflepuff!"

Y/N flinched as the hat shouted the single word. Thea took the hat off her friend, and placed it back on the bookshelf. When she got back down, she smiled brightly at Y/N.

"I knew it! I knew it all along!"

The child tilted their head. "I know my friend's a hufflepuff, and they're good at finding things, but what else are they good at?"

Thea pat their head. "Hufflepuffs are probably the nicest people you will ever meet. My best friend Kennedy is one, and she gave me a whole box of chocolates when I failed a Potions exam."

Y/N felt a hint of a smile in the corner of their mouth. "That's sweet."

"Exactly," she nodded. "and, as a hufflepuff, that makes you incredibly adorable."

The two laughed together, relishing in each other's company. Their giggling was soon silenced when the knobs on the double doors began to jiggle, and the two instantly turned in fear. Without another word, Thea pushed her friend under the headmaster's desk, and crawled under it as well.

Thea placed her finger to her lips, and shook her head. Y/N copied her actions, and huddled closer to their friend. On instinct, Thea wrapped her arms around the child as if anything were to hurt them.

"Out of all the times he had to have left his office..." A voice cut through the air, and Y/N felt Thea squeeze her slightly. The voice spoke again. "Newt, I'm terribly sorry-."

"-It's alright, professor." Newt's familiar voice interrupted. "I'm just...I'm worried about them, I know they've never been in a place like this..."

Y/N glanced over at Thea, and the strawberry blonde shook her head. Not listening to her, Y/N crawled out from the desk, and stood up. Sure enough, Newt Scamander was there, but so was a tall man with a dark brown beard. When they saw them, it looked as if the two nearly jumped out of their skin.

"Y/N!" Newt gasped, quickly rushing over to them, and kneeling down to place his hands on their shoulders. "Where were you?"

The child's gaze dropped to the floor. "Places."

Newt shook his head "Y/N-."

"-Why didn't you wait for me?" They interrupted. "I came out of the bathroom and you weren't there!"

He swallowed, ashamed of his mistake. "That was my fault, yes. An old professor of mine dragged me away for just a moment, and when I came back, you weren't out of the bathroom. I'm so sorry."

Y/N stared at him, noting the look of guilt in his eyes. "Just don't do it again."

"I won't." He promised, giving them a thankful smile. "How did you get in here?"

The child's mouth was held in a straight line, not planning on speaking a word on the matter. That was when they noticed the other man in the room come over to them. Without saying a word, he looked under the desk.

"Ah, Thea, what brings you here?" He questioned.

Neither Newt nor Y/N could see her expression, but they heard her say, after a moment of quietness. "Nothing, professor."

He sighed. "Come now, get out from under there."

The strawberry blonde crawled out with a sigh, and stood near Y/N. The man with a beard smiled politely at Y/N. He held his hand out.
