"Are you sure he'll be okay?" Y/N asked him as they held the blackbird in their hands.

Newt smiled, nodding. "I'm sure."

Swallowing, the child glanced down to the bird. "Rosie, you're all better now, okay? You can go anywhere you want now, get it?"

Rosie merely looked up at them curiously, not really having any other emotion to him. Sighing, Y/N opened their hands, and the blackbird immediately flew off into the sky. The child rested their head against Newt's arm, and the magizoologist wrapped it around them.

"Come on, let's go to breakfast before going home."

Home...

He still called it that.

No matter, they nodded and clung loosely onto Newt as the two walked through the sidewalks of London. It had been about two weeks since they had been to Hogwarts, and in those weeks, Y/N had only grown healthier. The bags under their eyes were still apparent, but Newt could proudly say that they were sleeping better. The little one also would finally eat bigger meals than they did in the beginning, leading them to return to a normal weight for someone their age. Newt could not be prouder.

So, that was why they were going to Eilis' bakery for breakfast.

"How's your book?" Y/N asked as the two walked through the busy, morning streets of London.

Newt looked down at the child beside him, holding their hand, and smiled. "It's coming along quite well. In fact, I might be able to publish it next month."

Y/N's face lit up. "Really?"

"Really." He said, just as excited.

Without another thought, little Y/N pulled on his hand, leading him though the crowds. He laughed.

"What on earth are you doing?"

"I'm hungry!" They yelled, not giving a damn over all the stares from onlookers.

Newt could only chuckle, trying to not trip over his own feet. "I'm aware of that, but there's no need to run!"

"Yes there is!"

This time, Newt fully stopped in his tracks, holding onto Y/N's hand tightly. The little one glanced up at him with a questioning look on their face. The man took a deep breath, crouching down to get on their level.

"Y/N, Eilis' bakery is still going to be there, alright? Now, it's a..." Newt looked up at the sky. Still very cloudy. "nice day, and we can enjoy it while walking to breakfast. Yes?"

The small child dropped their eyes to the cement, slightly annoyed with his request. Yet, instead of speaking to them, Newt just stayed silent for them to think. After a few moments, they looked back up at him, and nodded. He smiled, standing back up and squeezing their hand slightly.

"Glad we could come to an agreement."

And so, the two began walking to the bakery in pleasant quietness; the only sound being the chatter of adults, and the loud voices of children around them. Thankfully, it wasn't before long that they reached the bakery for breakfast.

When they entered, business was for sure booming, and almost every table seemed to be full. Then, Y/N's face lit up at the sight of an old friend.

"Thomas!" They squealed, running out of Newt's hand and quickly wrapping their arms around the boy.

He let out a surprised huff, his eyes growing in just a moment of shock. Then, once he realized who it was, he hugged them back, smiling. "Y/N, I-I've missed you!"
