❣THIRTY-EIGHT❣

Shreya tagged herself along Riya and Anshika as they arrived. They were baffled to look at her pale face and asked a hundred times but she just denied and let the topic fly away. They gave up because they knew getting a secret out of Shreya was a hard nut to crack.

The hall was lit in lights and glitters. The place captured every attention to itself and every eyes roamed to see the beautiful arrangements. Every piece or item was precious and to Shreya's surprise everything was her liking. She was shocked at how was that possible. Sana's words echoed in her ears and was left contemplating what those meant.

The party was for the closed ones and only known people from their college were present. Rahul was highly strung. He didn't know what was he supposed to do and to his bad luck even Sana was also not there.

"Kahan reh gayi yaar yeh kaha tha main jaldi aa jaaungi par abhi tak nahi aayi" he muttered to himself and shortly Anish also joined him making him a bit relaxed for time being. Shreya didn't want to come but she wanted a proper closure and the reason of their betrayal so here she was.

The party was high and everybody seems enjoying. As soon as Shreya saw Rahul enter, the tears rolled down. She loved him and may be she still does. Ofcourse you can't unlove someone within few hours and for her she thought a lifetime would be less but what he did was also not to be neglected. Her breaths quickened as he came near and stood just an inch away from him. Riya, Anshika and Anish got themselves busy in usual teasings and fun banter.

"Why did do you that?" her voice was devoid of any emotion and her eyes were the mirror of her soul in pain.

"You misunderstood the situation baby", he tried holding her hand but she jerked his hand back giving him a shock. She was upset and that to very much.

"Okay, will you believe me what ever I say"

"I don't know"

"Shreya, baby please believe me and we have only 10 minutes for the new year"

"Speak",her voice was stoic.

"Okay listen to me with a calm mind, Okay I went to meet Sana for you because I wanted it to be the best for you, just a moment it will be but I want it to be the bestest of your life and only Sana was the one who could help me with that....She is the one who have known you for the longest time, so...." and he explained her every thing what happened but still stopped himself from saying the words clear. Suddenly the lights went off the only person in focus was Shreya. She gasped when she saw Rahul on his knees and tears never knew how to stop when he said the words "I love you Shreya, and I love like the way I never knew I can and I want my every moment to be with you, will you please oblige me by sharing your life with me"

Sana words made sense to her and realisation dawned upon her like hot lava was poured. The countdown has begun and she knew that if she followed her mind today she will loose something very precious and she was in no state to afford it. She just nodded her head agreeing to him and he in second engulfed her in his arms making people go aww and hoot.

"I have screwed Rahul....and I will do anything to get her to apologise me", Shreya whisphered to him and when he didn't get the context she explained him her blunder making Rahul feel awful for Sana, for getting treated as shit. He was quick to run to Sana along with Shreya

Sana was mess by the time she reached home. Before getting in she made herself presentable, not wanting to worry her mother and ignoring her looks she barged into her room and thumped on bed crying.

Sidharth on his way and called Rahul informing him that due to some emergency he wouldn't be able to make it to the party. Rahul was already worked up but guessing the urgency in his voice he didn't think it right to push him.

Sidharth followed her to her home and stood outside, watching the lights in her room turn on and off every few seconds. He understood she was deeply hurt by something and she wants to be alone but she can't be.

Sana was feeling horrible and wondered what if she denied Rahul too, it will be because of her and a small misunderstanding but the words that came out of Shreya were doing worse to her. She cried and cried, for how long only nature knew. Sidharth kept staring at the window in the hope her to come, and she did. His heart dropped his in stomach seeing her beautiful face which always glowed, lost it light. He hated that the shining and twinkling eyes, were red with crying. He wanted the smile on her downturned lips.

Feeling him around, her eyes roamed and her heart fluttered seeing him, looking at her already with admiration in his eyes and care for her. She cried more and sobs left her. Sidharth shook his head signalling her not to cry and she cried more and moved away from there. He felt disheartened loosing her from his sight. But the click of the door open made him shudder with the weirdest of emotions rising in him. She ran to him and he was quick to hold her in his arms. Her eyes were now a stream of tears.

"Shhhh...baby, don't cry chup ho jaa, stop crying baby....you look like a racoon" and amidst the sobs the sweet giggle of her made his heart jump out with happiness. What was this emotion that a giggle of hers made him calm down and pain go away, which he felt seeing her like that.

It was the second time Sana saw him standing, looking at her window with a unreadable hope in his eyes but least she knew he was there every night to just have glimpse of her in her animal print night suits and he loved the squirrel print on her.

"Bas bhi kar kitna royegi...its going to be new start soon.. and I don't want you to start it like this", and he broke the hug and making her climb the bike he drove her in the beauty of nature for beginning the year in the most beautiful way.

You calm my mind and set my heart on fire. You are that beautiful combination.
