CH 16

POV Waverly

I slowly walk to my sister's room nervously anticipating what she is going to say when I tell her that I like girls. I knock on the door and she yells for me to come in and I see her sitting on her bed and texting on her phone.

"Hey Wynonna, can I talk to you for a sec?"

"Yeah sure what's up, are you ok?"

"Yeah I'm fine I just kind of have something that I wanted to get off my chest."

"Oh ok, well go for it."

"I'm kind of nervous to tell you honestly because I'm scared about your reaction and that you might hate me after. I've known it about myself for a while and I just feel like it's time for me to tell you."

"Baby girl, nothing you say can make me hate you."

"Uh, yeah well...uh I like girls." Wynonna starts to chuckle a bit. "What? Why are you laughing?"

"Waverly, I know. I've known for a little bit now."

"Wait, how do you know?"

"Well I had my suspicions especially when you were dating Champ and never seemed to want to talk about him and he was rarely here. Honestly, it was kind of confirmed for me tonight, the way you and Nicole were looking at each other. I suspect something is going on there, but I won't press you if you don't want to talk about it."

I looked at her eyes wide. I can't believe she figured all of this out, she is way more observant than I thought.

"Wow, uh, yeah that's all pretty accurate."

"I don't know why you would ever think I could hate you for something like this Waverly. It's just who you are, and I'll always love you no matter what."

We get up from the bed and hug. "Thank you, Wynonna."

"Of course, baby girl."

We pull out of the hug, "I'm going to go back to Nicole, because I think she is still in my room."

Wynonna winks at me, "Ok, but don't get to carried away."

"Stopppp I'm leaving, goodnight."

"Goodnight."

I head back to my room and Nicole looks over to me immediately as I walk in.

"Soooooo how did it go?"

"She said she already knew."

"What? How?"

"She mentioned how I was pretty distant with Champ and that at dinner she saw the way that we were looking at each other. She told me she has no problem with it though."

"Oh, well that's crazy that she figured it out. I told you though that she wouldn't hate you. I'm super proud of you Waves, that takes a lot of guts."

"Thanks."

Nicole pulls my face closer to hers and kisses me on the forehead. I can't help but melt into it a little as she then transitions to pulling me into a hug.

"Nicole, do you want to stay in here tonight?"

"I want to, but I don't know if that's a good idea."

"Oh, ok."

"Waves, I don't want you to think I don't like you or anything because trust me I do... a lot. We just haven't really talked about what this is, and I don't want to ruin things by rushing anything."

"Well do you want to talk about it now."

"I guess it couldn't hurt."

"Ok, well I guess a good place to start is by asking what we are."

"Yeah, well like I said I don't want to rush anything especially with you. Like I said Waves, don't get me wrong I like you a lot, but since this is pretty new for you, I think we should just be in that dating phase right now like before being official. Plus, I want to take you out on dates, treat you right and just do things right with you. I know that I wasn't the greatest in the past, but I really do want to make it up to you."

I smile and I can feel my cheeks getting red, "sounds good to me."

"Does that mean that you'll go out on a date with me?"

I laugh a little, "Yes, duh."

"Maybe not tomorrow night because of the basketball game, but any other night this week works because I have nothing else better to do since I'm suspended."

"Oh yeah, geez I almost forgot you're suspended. Wait, how are you still playing in the game if you're suspended?"

"I guess coach made some type of deal with the principal because the team really needs me for this next game."

"Oh, ok that makes sense. Well I guess I'll be riding with you on the bus then."

"Yeah, are you going to sit with me?"

"As long as you want me to?"

"Waves, of course I do."

She takes my hand and kisses the back of it tenderly while making eye contact with me.

"Nicole, are you sure you can't just sleep in here tonight, pleeaassee?" I knew the please would get her and that deep down she can't refuse me.

"Fine I will, but you have to actually get sleep because you still have school tomorrow."

"I will ok. You should go get changed and then come back."

"Ok, I'll be back in a few."

She leaves to go change into her pajamas and I do the same. Honestly, just the thought of her sleeping in the same bed as me gives me butterflies. She is gone for a while so in the meantime I get into bed and begin to dose off.

I am half asleep when I feel the other side of my bed compress and I roll over to see Nicole trying to quietly slip into my bed. She gets under the covers and sees that I'm awake, "Shit, I'm sorry I didn't mean to wake you. Sorry I took so long I decided to get in a quick shower."

I mumble "it's ok" and cuddle into her side and put my arm over her stomach. She almost instinctively puts her arm around me too. Before I fully doze off again I feel her lift my chin and I slightly open my eyes to see her moving in for a kiss. I close my eyes again and press my lips into hers and I feel the butterflies rush to my stomach. We pull away and I say, "goodnight Nicole" and she responds, "goodnight Waves." I almost immediately fall asleep full of content and happiness.
