POV Nicole

After I finish unpacking, I make my way downstairs to see if they need any help with dinner. Before I round the corner to enter the kitchen I overhear Waverly and her mom talking about me.

"Are you sure this is a good idea sweetie? Even you said it yourself that she hurt you really bad all those years ago."

"Yeah mom I think I'm sure, I mean she seems like she's genuinely sorry and still just as nice and caring as she was when we were little."

I feel weird listening to anymore so I round the corner.

"Hey Waves, is there anything I can help with?"

"No, actually we're ready for dinner now and I was just going to come and get you."

"Is it just us, where is Wynonna and your Dad?"

"They are working late so yeah it's just us. Uh, mom this is Nicole, Nicole this is my mom."

Her mom reaches her hand out to shake mine. "It's nice to meet you Nicole, you can call me Meg."

"It's nice to meet you too, thank you so much for letting me stay here especially without knowing me at all. I appreciate it more than you know."

"Well if all of what Waverly tells me is true you seem like a very sweet girl."

I look over at Waverly who smiles slightly at me and then quickly looks back down at her food. I swear I saw her blush, but maybe I am just imagining things.

We finish eating dinner and by the end we are all laughing and joking around. Waverly and I reminisced about silly childhood stories and it felt really good to look back on those days and it felt especially good to see Waverly laughing and having fun.

I offer to help Meg clean up with dinner, but she insists that she has it under control and tells Waverly and I to go have fun. After this dinner I can feel that the situation with Waverly has lightened significantly and we are definitely making progress to getting back to the way we were as kids or at least something close to that.

POV Waverly

Dinner was really nice and at times it felt like things were back to normal with Nicole and me. I am starting to think that me being any type of mad at her is going to be incredibly difficult. After dinner we make our way upstairs and I turn into my room and Nicole just keeps walking to her room.

I quickly poke my head out my door, "Hey, do you want to come hang out in my room?"

She turns around quickly and locks eyes with me, "yeah sure, I just wasn't sure if you had schoolwork or something to get done and I didn't want to bother you."

"You could never bother me." Shit, did I really just say that out loud. I look down shyly, but I can see that Nicole is smiling at me.

She walks into my room and sits down at my desk. She looks at me as I sit down on my bed, "soooo Waves, what do you want to do?"

"Uhhh I don't know, we could play a game or something."

"Okkkk, well you seem to have something in mind so let's just do it."

"It's just asking each other questions if that's ok with you? I just figured we could get to know each other more after all these years."

"Sure Waves, why don't you ask me first."

"Ok uhhh, so do you play any sports or do anything like that?"

"Yeah, I actually play basketball. How about you?"

"I cheerlead, but some people don't consider that a sport."

"I for sure think that's a sport. I mean in all honesty any sport is hard in it's own ways and I know for sure I would never have enough talent to do it."

"That's really sweet of you, I get a lot of shit about it from guys and how they don't think it counts as a sport."

"Well guys are shitheads sooo."

"Well not all are but, yeah I guess you have a point haha."

"So, on the topic of boys, do you have a boyfriend or anything?"

"Well we haven't been dating for a while, but yeah his name is Champ."

"Oooooo you'll have to introduce me to him at school tomorrow."

It seemed like Nicole wasn't really that excited to meet him, but rather she was being polite for my sake.

"What about you Nicole, do you have a girlfriend?"

"No, I had a thing with a girl back home, but I wouldn't say it was dating because I wasn't out to my parents, so it was hard."

"I'm sorry Nicole, but who knows maybe you'll find someone here."

"Yeah who knows...Well I'm sorry to cut this short, but I'm actually really tired and think I should head to bed."

"Yeah me too."

I get up and walk towards the door to walk Nicole out of my room. She stops in the hallway and turns around and quickly pulls me into a hug.

"Goodnight Waves."

"Goodnight Nicole, see you bright and early for school tomorrow."

I watch her walk down the hallway and go into her room. I actually had a really good time with her tonight, it felt like before but something completely new at the same time.
