"Ugh, the Slug Club." I groaned. "Doesn't even sound appealing." I grumbled, fixing my cardigan.
I chose a black tank top under it this time and stayed with a pair of jeans. Hermione looked nicer than me but I decided to curl my hair and do makeup to make it look a little fancier.
"It's an honour. Ron didn't even get an invitation." Hermione said, putting on her shoes.
"He should count his blessings." I checked the mirror and sighed. "I don't look nice with curls."
"No!" Hermione came over and looked at me through the mirror. "Well..."
"See!"
"It's just not you! The makeup is, it looks good just..." Hermione said quickly.
I sighed and started braiding it down my back like I usually do. Hermione didn't argue and I wasn't about to hear it. At the end, I pulled my bangs out and let them frame my face. Those curls weren't bad and I could live with them.
Once ready, the two of us began the walk to Professor's Slughorn's quarters. He lived in one of the biggest rooms, probably in order to host this dinner party to begin with. We barely made it out of the Gryffindor hall when Ginny came storming past.
"Ginny!" I called.
She stopped and turned back, her face scrunched and angry.
"Oh god..." I muttered.
"I don't want to be late..." Hermione said.
"Go on then, I'll see you there." I told her.
"You better show up."
"Shh. Bye."
Hermione left quickly and I jogged to catch up with Ginny whose expression hadn't changed.
"Alright. What's going on?" I asked.
"Dean is what's going on, are you wearing lip gloss?" Ginny frowned.
"We're talking about you and Dean." I said defensively.
"Right um... he's just... he always has to pick a fight."
"Okay but-"
"Ginny!"
I turned around and Dean jogged over quickly, completely ignoring me. "We're not finished yet."
"Yes we are, I told you-"
"I don't care what you told me, this fight is not over!"
"This is between you two so I'll just... yeah." I ducked away quickly as the screaming started.
There was no way I wanted to be caught between that. Ginny was strong willed and Dean seemed to be the kind of person who didn't like the word no. That didn't make for a promising relationship but who was I to judge. I had never actually been in one.
I didn't bother knocking, stepping into the room quickly. Unfortunately the door was very loud and every head turned to me. Exactly what I didn't want.
"Ah, Miss Malfoy, glad you could join us." Slughorn exclaimed.
"Thanks Professor." I replied kindly.
I closed the door and looked for an empty seat and the first one I saw was on the other side of Harry. My cardigan began to itch as I saw another open seat and headed towards that one. The second I took a step in the other direction, Harry stood up abruptly. I'm not exactly sure what that meant and for a moment he was even caught off guard by his own actions.
He quickly but smoothly pulled out the chair next to him and I did my best to ignore the look on Hermione's face. She was way too amused by this.
To stop the embarrassing moment, I hurried over and sat down, letting Harry push in my chair. I looked over at Hermione and raised my eyebrows to ask her what the bloody hell that was all about but she simply shrugged and dipped into her food.
