"Lovegood, what are you doing with that caterpillar?" Snape asked, standing over Luna's desk.
Luna looked up with a faraway look in her eyes. "I'm petting Wobble, Professor," she said in a singsong voice. "Would you like to touch him?"
Snape was unimpressed. "Who or what on Earth is Wobble?"
"Oh, sir, he's my caterpillar. I've been feeding him a lot and I think he's ready to start his annual rampant, Professor," Luna smiled.
"Do you know how to read, Lovegood? The instructions in your book do not include petting the insect. You must dice your caterpillar into quarters and put them in after a dash of cat spit," Snape drawled like a cowboy, glaring at Wobble with distaste.
"I do know how to read, sir," Luna nodded vigorously, her head wobbling like it was a bit too large for her. "I just didn't want to do it."
The students in the back row tittered quietly.
"And why not?"
"It's animal cruelty, sir. I have to let Wobble start his rampant now, or he'll die an awful death at the mercy of the Moon Cindraqo," She waved her wand in a circle around the sleeping, impossibly fat caterpillar. "Arpuctreus aegi pixto!"
Crash.
Snape looked over his giant black sleeve to see a giant caterpillar looming over him. "Stand back," he drawled calmly and drew his wand out of his pocket...
Wobble leaned down and swallowed it whole, knocking him into a cabinet.
"Start your rampant now, Wobble," Luna clapped her hands eagerly.
Wobble the caterpillar ran off into the hallway, smashing into several late students.
Luna waved happily from the doorway.
