STARING AT THE SUN

CHAPTER 9

BELLA P.O.V

Jacob had started working as a mechanic so I had decided to get a job at a small little bookstore in La Push. I felt safer working in La Push where the pack could be around at any time. Our schedules were almost the same. I worked Wednesday, Thursday, Fridays and every other weekend. While Jake worked Wednesday's through Saturdays. So we usually did dinner with our dads on Sunday, and sometimes the Clearwater's came too. Then on Monday's we did date night and usually ended up at one of our houses to watch movies.

With college approaching fast, I had started doing my shopping for things I would need. I knew that it wasn't going to be easy on me, Jacob, or Charlie. I had dragged Jacob to look for college things today and I could tell he just didn't want to be there.

"We can go if you want." I said to him as I was standing in an aisle with towels. I wasn't anywhere close to getting what I needed and it was starting to stress me out. I moved in at the end of August. It was coming up fast.

"I'm fine." He grumbled but the look in his face said different.

"We don't have to do this today. I can go tomorrow." I shrugged folding a towel and leaving the cart I was using.

"Bella, just get what you need."

"I can tell you don't want to do this so let's just go." I answered walking towards the front of the store. I could hear him stomping behind me.

"If I knew you were going to do this, I would have just stayed home." He said as he walked passed me and got into the car. I rolled my eyes before getting in and starting the car.

"I'll drop you off." I answered heading towards his house. I knew this process wasn't going to be easy but I thought he would be more supportive than this.

"I don't want you to leave me." He finally said.

"I'm not leaving you." I fought back. I knew this conversation was going to be coming soon. "I'm just going to college. I'm coming back."

"And you're gonna meet some guy who's your age and has money and a normal family and doesn't turn into a wolf and you'll leave me for him!" He shouted. Jacob never showed me any type of insecurities in our relationship let alone him being afraid of me leaving him.

"I will not!" I shouted back. Tears automatically sprang in my eyes as I drove.

"You don't even care that you're just leaving me behind."

"You knew I was going to go to college." I said calmly trying to keep my voice even.

"So you admit you don't care."

"I never said that." I sobbed wiping away the tears that spilled over and ran down my cheeks. I don't know why but I automatically panicked that he was going to break up with me. I tried to even my breathing and stop myself from crying but I couldn't. He was totally oblivious to me. He was shaking in the seat beside me and I knew that if I didn't get to his house soon, there could be a wolf in my truck.

I pulled up to his house and he got out right away but instead of phasing, he walked back and forth grabbing at his hair. I got out slowly and walked around the truck to where he was pacing.

"Just go home, Bella." He shouted. "You're making this ten times worse than it needs to be." I reached out to him but he stepped away. "Go away!" I saw the shades in the house move to the side knowing that Billy was watching us. As he often did.
