STARING AT THE SUN

CHAPTER 18

BELLA P.O.V

It was a very difficult decision to take classes online instead of going back to school at the end of the summer. Instead, I was trying to find an apartment for Jacob and I.

Somehow, more money was being added to my account. I tried to get the bank to send it back. I tried to give it away. But then Jacob convinced me to keep it and pay for an apartment for us. So I've been looking. I was also able to pay for a new washer and dryer set for both of our houses. Charlie never questioned where the money was coming from.

I had no idea why they were sending me money. Edward said it would be as if he never existed. Why would he be sending me money? I was asking a lot of questions that I was never going to get the answer to. Jacob never questioned anything. I felt bad using the money. Every time I paid for something that I wouldn't normally be able to afford, I felt like I was using the Cullen's. I have gotten into multiple fights with Jacob over it. He claimed that it was the least they could do for all they put me through.

We had decided to invite our dads out to dinner to tell them the news that we have decided to move out on our own. I was terrified to tell Charlie. Of course he knew that we weren't going to go far but I was still scared of how he was going to react. Moving out was a huge step for our relationship but I think we were both ready.

We also decided on going out to dinner so that they couldn't make a scene. The chief of police would never have the town talking about him if he had an outburst on his daughter. We hadn't found an apartment yet but it was because we wanted our dads to help us find one. We had no idea what we were looking for.

Jacob held the door of the diner open for all of us. I think they were suspicious of us asking them to go to dinner. Anytime either of us had something to tell them they assumed I was pregnant. Thankfully I was not.

I sat down in my regular seat and they filled in around me. We ordered drinks and our meals before I looked at Jake.

"We gotta talk to you guys." He started.

"Oh god." Charlie sat up higher.

"I'm not pregnant." I sighed. "But we are thinking of getting an apartment together." Billy seemed shocked. Of course we thought about what would happen with Billy. He could do most things on his own but there were some things that Jacob helped him with.

"Wow." Charlie said before Billy could. "Are you sure you're both ready for that?"

"We wanna try at least." I shrugged. "We're not gonna go far." I confirmed. "We'll be here if either of you need anything."

"No." Charlie said.

"What do you mean no?" I asked. Charlie was never really one to say no. He always tended to just let me do what I want without asking many questions.

"Neither of you are old enough to make that decision." He commented. "Neither of you know how difficult it is to run a household." I could beg to differ on that one. I wasn't expecting him to say no. I didn't really think I needed his permission. "If you guys want more privacy fine, we'll think of something but you're not moving out." I looked over at Jake. Of course we wanted more privacy. That was one of the huge reasons we wanted to move out on our own. I just never expected it to be this big of a deal. "Did you mother think this was a great idea?" He asked.

"I haven't told her yet." Jacob's hand squeezed my leg under the table. I guess we both just kinda thought that they would be on board with this. We were both of legal age to move out. They wouldn't stop us if we really wanted to.
