STARING AT THE SUN
CHAPTER 11
BELLA P.O.V
Charlie had decided to rent a car for the move to college. We had spent most of the day packing up the car. My room was mostly empty. Of course I was leaving a bunch of stuff, most of the pictures were staying.
The bedding had to stay too because it wouldn't fit the twin mattress at school.
"How is Jake handling this?" Charlie asked as we sat down for dinner together. I shrugged. I knew that this wasn't going to be easy on Jacob. It wasn't going to be easy on me either but this was just something I needed to do.
"He's okay. He won't talk about it."
"He coming to stay the night?"
"Yeah. I just told him that we were going to have dinner together and then he could come over." I answered. "And he's gonna come with tomorrow."
"I figured. Extra man to move everything." I smiled. "But Embry, his friend is moving in too isn't he?" He asked.
"Embry Call. Yeah. So I'm sure Jake will be there every minute he possibly can be." He chuckled. "Probably sleep out in the woods on campus." Of course I would never make him do that. Worst comes to worst I'll let him sleep on the floor with a couple blankets.
"He's very protective." I looked up from my plate to him. "Almost too protective."
"What do you mean?"
"What is he protecting you from, Bells?" He questioned.
"I-what?" I was confused on what he meant. I mean there was no way he actually knew what he was protecting me from. As far as knew, there were no vampires in the area. Obviously vampires were around the world but so far, since Victoria, no vampires have crossed into Forks or La Push.
"He's always hovering. Always making sure you're not tripping over your own feet." I laughed a little. "It's a very serious relationship." Which terrified me. Not only that he noticed how serious our relationship was but that he was probably thinking that we were going to run off and get married. Then the doorbell rang. I huffed quickly standing but not standing fast enough before Charlie got up and went to the door. Normally Jake wasn't nervous coming into the house but when I stood behind Charlie, him standing at the door with flowers, he looked nervous. "Hello, Jacob. Thank you for the flowers." I rolled my eyes trying to get around Charlie who wouldn't move.
"Uh, they're for Bella." He stuttered rubbing the back of his neck with one hand.
"Move." I pushed passed Charlie and smiled at Jake. "Thank you for the flowers." He handed them to me before I stepped back, into Charlie. "Dad." I whined. Charlie walked away but kept his eyes on us. I wasn't sure why he was suddenly acting like that.
"What's his deal?" Jake asked kissing my cheek and stepping into the house. He closed the door behind him.
"He thinks you're very protective." I answered going to the kitchen and getting a vase for the flowers. As soon as I got them into the water in the vase, I smelled them.
"I am protective over you."
"He questioned what you were protecting me from." I looked over my shoulder at him. Our plates from dinner were still on the table and I offered him the leftover's from my plate. When he refused, I cleaned them up.
"You obviously didn't tell him right?"
"I'm not stupid." I answered wrapping my arms around him.
