I jumped out of the sofa, feeling extremely stressed out and even more tired than I had been prior to falling asleep.
It was morning.
The orange juice and soda biscuits I had been drinking from yesterday sat on the center table, looking stale, and untouched.
TLC channel bustling through my television screen and showing a different show from what I had fallen asleep to while waiting for Max to return.
Max's instant pass caused my neck's muscle's to strain upon whiffing too quickly at his direction. "Max!" I caught up to him before he could walk out of the house for work.
He turned to me with a screamingly "What?!" mien pasted on his face.
Here I was being hot on his heels after lingering all night, only for him to return without even thinking to apprise me of his arrival like he normally would.
Living with him was like a storm waiting to happen; dark clouds and cold atmospheres hanging above. It would've been better if he just let me know what he was thinking.
His eyes gave nothing away. They were void of any emotion. Not even one of anger. Because Max felt nothing towards me anymore.
"Never mind," I mouthed.
He said nothing, whipped around and walked out, not even banging the door behind.
I peered through the window and watched as he got into the driver's seat of his car, a smile lightening his face as he turned to his dear-
-Sharon!
I watched, green with envy as they giggled and kissed. He could give Sharon a whole laugh, but I got nothing? I felt stabbed.
Max's smile dropped when he caught my eye. But promptly after driving out of the compound without darting at me.
I got to the kitchen. Knowing he hadn't left any food for me as he used to do, I checked with the inkling of hope that soon shattered.
I could really use a superpower right now. Having to deal with the criticism from everyone was too much for me.
From being blocked by Petra everywhere on social media, to being roasted by Lois and Sesinam, giving me reasons why I was an idiot.
Sesinam was deliberately throwing shade on me through her social media posts. It wasn't paranoia, I knew she was referring to me.
How coincidental could it be that she posted a quote , "you can go to the moon and back for someone and they would have the audacity to say 'I never asked you to.'".
I could've blocked her, but for some reason, she was the only person whose profile I could watch to keep myself updated on what the three of them were doing without me.
During the week, I called Derrick, all of which went unanswered. It was obvious he was ignoring them.
To say I was hurt was an understatement.
His brother had probably told him the favorable side of the story, and he definitely bought it.
The only 'friend' I had was Perry and Aiden who kept checking up on me. And today was one of those days.
"Guess where I am right now?" Aiden's text read. A smile spread on my face as I rushed out to find a car honking behind the gates.
I lumbered out of the house. Through the dark, I spot Aiden leaning on his car as cool as a cucumber. He had a hoodie over his head, hands in his pockets like he was on to something dubious.
