If only I could explode. Then, my life would be better, because there'll be none of it.

"Raine", Aiden caught up to me and I groaned. "What's wrong?"

I huffed.

"Was that the Derrick guy?"

I nodded.

"Did he say or do something?"

"It's not about him."

"Then?"

"It was about my admissions into the school," I inhaled sharply.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

I shook my head, "I might ruin my make-up."

"That's what you're concerned about?" He cupped my face in his palms. "Did something go wrong with the admissions?"

My throat felt tightened, I could only nod. "But it's not just about that. It's everything, Aiden, everything feels so out of sequence. Like the world is upside down and I'm the only one-" he clung to my waist and pulled me into an embrace.

"Do you want to go home?"

I assented.

"Should I get Max?"

I shook my head.

"Let's go to my car, then"

But Max was already there. He jumped into care mode instantly, because apparently, my mood was written all over my face. I didn't need to explain anything to him, straight away, he asked to take me home.
As soon as we got home, I changed into a comfortable outfit, then sorted to washing the make-up off my face before I would take a nap.

I cupped my hand under the running tap and buried my head into it. And suddenly, I felt the urge to hold my breath and stay underneath it for a longer time.

Just a little longer, Raine. A little longer in the water till I pass out.

But just then, something else... someone else, had control. "Are you okay?" Max scared me so much I inhaled water into my nostrils.

"Have you not heard of privacy?" I muttered cusses under my breath, heaving and wiping my face with a towel.

"Are you okay?"

I nodded and examined him. "Are you?

"Yeah," but he didn't look it. "I have a surprise for you."

I climbed unto my bed, giving him all attention now.

He proceeded. "All our financial records have been balanced prior to the start of this month. But I had taken some money out of my owners' equity account and... It's supposed to be yours this time."

If I tell you that my eyes bulged out.

"Just your birthday, slash, graduation gift. The least I can do after... everything."

And although I was dumbfounded, I got myself to ask "How much?"

"Just a few thousands."

"T-thousands?"

"Yeah, since school would be commencing soon, and you would need a lot of things. I know how much you hate it when I do things for you so, with the money you can get everything you want pertaining to you moving to campus and all that."

Still dumbfounded.

He proceeded. "And unless you ask for my help ...well... I can't really promise you but I'll try. I'll try to stay back and just watch you take care of things yourself."
