Who rehearses for a graduation ceremony? Who? Do you not need to merely attend the function and revel?

Not my private school; the entirety of the event had to be unrivalled, especially because it was being aired. But truth be told, no one would sit behind the television to watch rich children cop an award.

I showed up, and it seemed the 'rehearsals' had already commenced. With some students passing directives and some running helter-skelter to get things done.

All I wanted was to find my friends; or at least I wish I could still call them that. Yet, I was met with one of the prefects. "Raine?"

"Yeah uh..." I groped for her name but eventually gave up. "What's up?"

She tapped her pen on her clipboard. "So far, everyone has been given a part to play in the preparation of the program. Everyone has to do something." She hit her clipboard again. "So, what would you like to do. Ushering? Performing?"

"Like, on stage?"

She looked down on her clipboard. "Yeah. You're smart and I think you're good at acting- the scripts have already been written. Or, you can join the dancing team... no, no, no, I don't think you would fit there."

"Are we having children's day or graduation?" she ignored it.

"Or you can join the modelling."

"The last time I stepped on a podium, I collapsed. No, thank you."

She exhaled, obviously tired of me. "You have to do something, please. No exemptions. Even the crippled would be walking that day. The creative and decorating department..."

But then she was interrupted when a guy tapped on her shoulder. I remembered the guy immediately. He was Derrick's friend; he had lent me his phone during school days.

He smiled at me before informing her that my friends had already gotten me into one of the departments. And although she did not seem pleased, she smiled and walked away.

I followed him, walking slowly beside him, as he elaborated on this 'department'.

"All the prefects are going for a trip after the graduation. And your friends signed you up to help with the organisation and everything."

I wasn't sure what made me happier. That my friends thought of me, the fact that I won't have to worry about carrying decorative pieces around, or that I was joining the prefects on a trip?

"Do I not know anything going on?"

"It's just for the prefects. But your friends managed to convince everyone to include you."

I chuckled. "They are not even prefects."

"Well, Sesinam... she's more or less a prefect. She got you guys in," he chuckled too. "So basically, it's going to be a little road trip to the Aburi gardens. Purposely for the school magazine."

I nodded, loving the sound of that.

"It's not going to be sponsored by the school though. So, you would have to pay some money. And then, we would allocate you to certain responsibilities. "

"Sesinam is in charge of finances?" I guessed.

"Yeah, and transportation."

Best think we were going to walk.

"Sure. I'm cool with it." I confirmed and he only nodded, still walking towards a place unbeknownst to me.

"Where are we going, though?" I asked and he only smiled smugly, causing me to halt in confusion. "What?"
