My brother's paranoia didn't allow him feel comfortable with the fact that he had to leave me at home alone.

There were days where he had intentionally come home earlier than the actual time in the 'hope' of discovering a boy in my room, or seeing something horrendous. But, he was always getting disappointed because, I'm such a good girl.

However, this didn't stop him from finding something for me to do, instead of "staying at home and being useless", as he had directly stated.

And guess the best possible thing he could get for me to do.

To be with Sharon!

Okay let me be a little specific and less oblique.

He had signed me up for one of her make-up classes. I mean, she's beautiful and her make-up game is on point but... could it be somewhere else other than her presence?

I hated the idea of having to share a closed space with the overly gleeful Shay.

I've always hated people who acted extremely sweet. Girl! You don't have to be happy bubbly sunny, and holding an aura of joy all the time. Please, at least, be sad once in two weeks.

Even the sun gets tired of being extremely and unnecessarily too bright by running shifts with the moon.

On the other hand, I couldn't hide my shock when I learnt she was the owner of the make-up studio. No offense, but I thought she had been eating off Max's plate; with no personal ambition to achieve. I was mistaken.

I took notice of how her two employees, -as I had come to know-, showed earnest respect to her.

"How old are you?" I found myself asking.

"A year older than your brother" She answered. "Do you think it matters?"

My first thought was to blurt out a 'yes', with the expectation of her leaving my brother. Yet, I decided on just shaking my head to the question.
"Omi-gaw-d!" She exclaimed, throwing me off my seat a little. This girl was extra. "Your mother also said the same th-ang. As long as it's okay with-"

"Wait. You knew... you knew my mum?" I stammered a little at the mention my mum.

How long had she been in Max's life anyway? And how come my mum had known her but I hadn't till recently?

She brushed my question off immediately by broaching the subject of our class. I was left with nothing but questions flooding my thoughts.

Nonetheless, the period of teaching spent at her place was not at all that bad. Except for having to hear her high-pitched voice whenever she was teaching or giving orders. - Btw, she was surprisingly polite and humble to her workers.

My guess was, she was trying to impress me. It was working though.

Moreover, we had lunch together every single day at the other end of the street. There were days that Max would leave work to join us; I hated those days. And there were also times where only she and Max would go without me.

I think they were doing more than 'lunch' because, who leaves work to go out and eat for two hours? And what was with the privacy? Unless, Sharon was the 'lunch', then I totally get it.

Today was similarly one of those days.

"She just left", I narrated to Petra on the phone.

"Why don't you go and have fun with Derrick instead of waiting for people who are doing likewise", Petra suggested.

After I had filled and submitted the forms for the South-African university program to Derrick, he had been insisting on meeting me.

But there was no way I was going to call a guy to ask him out.
