Chapter 45: The Wedding

*LACEY'S POV*

"Lacey! You've got something here" I hear my mum shouts. I run downstairs. "What is it?" I ask and she holds me the envelope. It's just my name on it, so somebody had to put it in the mailbox by themselves. I open it and pull out the invitation for... Wait, what? Jade and Calum's wedding? I didn't know they're engaged. I run upstairs and dial Jade's number. "Hello" she picks it up. "We have to meet. Why didn't you tell me?" I tell her. I know she smiles. "Well, I actually wanted to call you. I want you to come with me to pick my wedding dress" she says. "Wait, what? Are you kidding me?" I ask her. "No, I'm serious. I just don't want to pick them with my mum. She is, uhmm, you know, a little old fashioned" she says. "Okay, when?" I ask her and she tells me the date and time.

*LUKE'S POV*

"Hey mate" Calum rushes into my room. "Hey, what's going on?" I ask. "I have something for you" he holds me an envelope. "What is it?" I ask and take it from him. He doesn't say anything and just waits until I open it. I pull out what's inside and I see the wedding invitation. I raise my eyebrow. "Next weekend?" I ask and he nods. "Everything's almost ready" he says. "What else do you want" I ask him when he stays quiet but he's not leaving. He looks at me "I want you to be my best man." "You want me to be what?" I ask and laugh. "Man, this is not going to happen" I tell him. "Luke please. Yeah, I could ask Ashton or Michael. But I want you. I can't trust them like I trust you. Please" he begs. I look at him "okay, fine" I agree. "But" I say and he looks at me "leave me out of this best man and maid of honour circus, clear?" he opens his mouth but then he nods.

*LACEY'S POV*

"Hi" I say to Jade when I arrive to the place where she told me to meet her. "Hi" she says and smile big. "Someone's really excited" I tease her a little and she blushes. "And you should be too" she says when walk into the boutique with wedding dress. "Well, I'm happy for you, but I really can't see the reason why I should be excited" I say. "I was thinking about for a while" she's talking to me while she's trying the dress "and since I don't have any sister or a close friend, I want you to be maid of honour." I stay there in shock "you want me to be what?" She shows herself in the dress "you heard me. How do I look?" I shake my head "you look amazing. It matches you so damn good." "Do you think I should take these, or should I try more?" she asks. "Well, I would say take these, but since we are here, I think you can try more" I wink at her and she smiles. "So, will you be?" she asks and I roll my eyes but when I look at her, she puts on puppy eyes and I can't say no to her "okay, fine, I will" I agree.

*LUKE'S POV*

I walk into Calum's house when his mum lets me in. She told me they're in living room. "Don't you think we should tell them? They both will be angry. What if one of them will say they're out? What are we going to do then?" I hear Jade's voice. I stop and listen. I know I shouldn't but I have a feeling this conversation has something to do with me. "They won't. Trust me." I hear Calum says. "No, seriously, we should tell them..." I cut Jade off. "Tell what to who?" I ask when I walk into the room. "Nothing" Calum says and Jade gives him a look but don't say anything. Then I hear the doorbell rings and few seconds later she's standing right next to me. "Okay, what's going on here?" I ask. I look at Jade who is looking at the ground. I look at Lacey and she just shakes her head and shrug. "Calum?" I look at him. "Fine. But we didn't plan this. Okay? It's just a coincidence. We didn't even talk about it until today" he starts. "To the point Calum" I say and cross my hands on my chest. "The point is that you are the best man and she's the maid of honour" he says.

*LACEY'S POV*

"Wait, what? Is this a joke?" I ask. I look at Jade and she shakes her head. "I'm so sorry. I didn't know that Calum asked Luke. Please, just don't tell me you're out. I need you" she begs. I sigh "I'm not." She looks at me "really?" she asks and I shake my head. She runs to me and hug me. "Mate?" I hear Calum's voice and I know he's talking to Luke. "Fine, I'll do it" I hear him say.
