Chapter 23: Separation

*LUKE'S POV*

It's been 4 days since we landed in LA. When I got signal on the phone I received a text message. I spot Lacey's name. My heart started to beat faster, because I thought she asks me in it how was the flight and some other stuff like that, but instead of it, she texted me it's over. That she realized how hard this is gonna be and she can't handle the distance. That she thinks 2 weeks are lot, and she don't have any idea what would she do if it's going to be for months. I don't get it. I thought we're fine. It seems like we're fine. I try to call her every single time I can. I call her almost every 5 minutes. I sent he probably about 1000 messages, but she didn't reply to any of them. I try to reach her on Skype, Facebook or Twitter but it seems like she's avoiding me.

*LACEY'S POV*

I'm sitting in the school canteen with my friends, Lola, Mindy and Shana. My phone keeps buzzing since I sent the message to Luke. "Lacey" I hear voice behind me. I turn around and see Jade "yeah, what's going on?" She raises her eyebrow "can I talk to you?" I sigh "sure" and stand up and follow her to the corner. "What happened?" she asks me. "Nothing. What do you mean?" I ask. "Do you think I'm stupid?" she asks and I shake my head. "We were at the airport to say the goodbye and after they plane took off you send a message to Luke that you're breaking up with him? Do you even realize how much it hurts him?" I cut her off, "do you realize it hurts me too?" She crosses her arms on her chest "I didn't finish. He calls you, he texts you, but you don't even bother to pick up that fucking phone or reply to any of the texts. I thought you're a good person. I thought you would never hurt anyone. But you're just the same as every single girl Luke dated before. You just used him" she spits at me and leaves. But those words hit me like a train. I realize I did the biggest mistake in my life. The problem is that I can't take back what I've done.

I rush to the table. "What's wrong?" Shana asks me. I just shake my head, pick up my stuff and run to the backyard. I sit down on a bench. It's the same bench where Luke opened my eyes and showed me the truth about Ryan. I'm so stupid. In few seconds the phone buzzed again and Luke's name appears on screen. I don't hesitate for a second and pick up the incoming call. "Luke?" I ask. I just hope he'll forgive me.

*LUKE'S POV*

"Mate, stop it. How many times did you call her and she didn't pick it up? How many messages you sent her and she didn't reply to any of them?" Calum asks me. I shrug. "Why don't you just give up on her?" give up on her? Is he serious? "Because I love her" I mumble, but I don't think he heard me. I look at my phone to check if I don't have new message. I look up and see Calum looking at me. "Fine, one last time. If she won't pick up, I'll give up" I resist. He shrugs. I dial her number and after few seconds I hear a voice on the other side of the phone "Luke?" she asks. "Lacey!" I jump from the couch.

*LACEY'S POV*

We were talking like for about an hour, until I didn't persuade Luke we should end, because the phone bill will be enormously high. I promised him I'll call him on Skype when I get home. I explained him what I did what I did and he understood that I was scared and everything.

When I got home, I turn on my computer immediately. I go to the bathroom and when I come back to my room, my computer already make sound, signalizing incoming call on Skype. I accept the call and see Luke's face on screen. He's wearing tank top and snapback. "Hey" I say and go find some clothes around the room. "Hey, where are you? What are you doing?" he asks. "I just need to change" I say and I giggle. "Why don't you just put off the shirt and the jeans? You can be just in your underwear. It's not like I wouldn't see you in it before, and let's be honest, I saw you even without it" he says and since I already put off the shirt and jeans, I show myself to the screen. He whistles "I like this one more then the last one I saw on you." This time I have red underwear with black lace on it. Well, Luke's favourite combination of colours.

*LUKE'S POV*

I hear someone walks into the room. It's obviously Calum, because since we're here, Michael is not talking with us and he refuses to share the room with any of us, so he's with Ashton and I'm with Calum. I actually don't pay any attention what is Calum doing, since I have my girlfriend on the screen just in her beautiful underwear. Well, I would prefer to see her without it, but I don't think she would agree with this idea. Before I can do something, Calum throws himself right next to me, "Hi Lacey" he shouts and when he realizes she's just in her underwear he whistles, "nice" he admits it. Lacey disappears as fast as possible and come back a minute later in shirt and shorts. "Thanks" I strain through the teeth to Calum.

*LACEY'S POV*

Before I knew, Calum's body appears on screen right next to Luke "Hi Lacey" he shouts at me. When I realize I'm just in my underwear I run away from the screen and start to run around my room to find something to wear. I'm not sure about it, but I think I heard Calum says something like "nice." I find a white shirt and yellow shorts, so I wear it and come back to screen. I smile shyly and I see on the reflection of me on my screen I'm blushing. This was so embarrassing. "Sorry" Calum tries to apologize, but he actually doesn't mean it. He's just that type of a guy who loves to see girls and women in their underwear or even naked if it's possible. He doesn't care if he has a girlfriend or not.
