Yes, indeed the following day Steve and I finally spoke about our status with each other! Tony allowed us to have a room in the office for ten minutes to discuss our relationship which was kind as in the Compound someone would inevitably walk in and then the moment would be ruined. My heart was hammering when we entered the room, even more so when Tony left the room. When Steve stared at me with his bright blue eyes I thought that I was going to pass out. This sounds very exaggerated but you have got to remember that it has taken brainwashing for us to achieve this moment so it needed to be perfect. And of course, it was.
Steve started off the conservation and told me that he has known that he's had feelings for me for a while now and everyone else has known this too. That made me chuckle which is ironic as the thought of the others knowing should have made me feel uncomfortable but because we are all so close in the Compound it was inevitable that they would realise. Steve proceeded to tell me how daunting it is to tell someone that you like them and I couldn't agree more! Hence why I hadn't said anything either! And it had also taken me a while to recover from seeing him kissing Sharon.
Anyway, I am not holding that against him, he just had a brain malfunction, I'm so mean but when you think about it they would have never worked out anyway ;) The first chapter of 'us' is getting Tony to throw a party at the Compound so we can all let off a little steam after the chaotic last few weeks we have had.
Tony came back in and addressed us as "lovebirds" so he was clearly listening outside the door, which was sweet. We then went back to the Compound and told the rest of the team the news. Everyone was very excited for us and now we are even considered by Rhodes as a "power couple," alongside Tony and Pepper. I couldn't help but bring up Nat and Banner because they are so perfect for each other but Nat said she didn't know what was going on there so then I felt bad! Steve then brought up the mission to bring home Bucky and Wanda hilariously brought up the brainwashing joke again so Steve has clearly told everyone how much I enjoy that joke.
Before I could proceed with my rant to everyone about the joke, Steve looked at his phone and then raced out of the room, not saying a word.
I tried to go after him but he had already driven away by the time I got outside. The only other person I knew might have answers was Sharon Carter. I kept the hostility I felt towards her on the down-low and when she told me that he had gone to London and the reason why, I ended the phone call immediately and sunk to the floor.
Peggy Carter had died.
What perfect timing.
