JADE HAD MADE HERSELF comfortable in clay's room, not feeling extremely out of place. she felt bad for taking up his bed, but he seemed adamant, so she obliged. she cuddled up in his sheets, and after an hour or so, she still couldn't fall asleep. she decided to text the man in the room over.

jade

hi

are u awake

clay

i sure am

is everything okay?

jade

yeah

i just can't sleep

clay

do you wanna watch a show or something?

jade

yes pls

jade turned her phone off, sitting up slightly. she heard rustling from the room next to her and a few moments later the door opened. "hi," she said quietly, waving at him. he did a small wave back before getting comfortable next to her.

"hi," he finally said, turning on the tv and booting up netflix. "whatcha wanna watch?" jade shrugged, but soon enough she saw criminal minds show up on the screen and told him that was the one. he said nothing, grabbing her hand, except this time moving closer than before. "is this okay?" he asked her gently, with nothing but a hum in response.

the two stayed like that until clay felt jade's head fall onto his shoulder. he looked down to find she had fallen asleep, and didn't want to wake her for the second time that night. he carefully moved her so she was laying down completely, and pulled her into his chest, before falling asleep as well.

clay had woken up before jade that morning and didn't want to make her overly uncomfortable, so he moved himself to his desk and practiced speedrunning until she woke up. he had successfully completed two runs before he heard her moving around behind him. he spun around in his chair to face the messy haired jade and smiled.

"good morning," he said to her, getting nothing but a groan in response. he laughed and turned back to his screen to turn it off.

"what're you doing?" she asked him, her morning voice much deeper than normal.

"well i was gonna go back to sleep, but i didn't wanna make it weird, so i was just speedrunning a little"

"well come back, it's cold in here"

and with that, clay climbed right back into bed with her, and the two continued where they left off on criminal minds the night before, this time just much closer.

eventually, the two of them decided to get up and get breakfast before jade had to go to work. clay quickly made toast and eggs, and they ate in silence, occasionally looking at each other.

"can you take me home? i have to change," jade told him as he was washing their dishes.

"for sure, i can drive you to work though if you want?" clay had turned off the sink and was currently drying his hands on the kitchen towel. jade had spaced out for a moment looking at him, and he smirked. "whatcha looking at?" he asked, walking over to her. she blushed and shook her head.

"nothing, i just don't wanna work today," she said looking up to him with a frown.

"why? do you not like it?" he questioned, concern piled into his voice.

"no, i do, i really do. i just- i don't know, i wanna stay here i guess," he frowned at her answer, while also having happiness rush through his body. he was ecstatic that she enjoyed her presence, but was also sad she had to leave. "i'm sorry, that probably sounds dumb,"

"it doesn't, i completely understand. i like having you around, you're really good company." his response had put a smile on her once frowning face, him returning the expression. "how about this. you go to work, do everything you have to, go home and change, and i pick you up and we can go on a drive or something," she nodded, standing up from her spot and checking her phone.

"okay, we gotta go or i'm gonna be late," clay agreed and the two of them left his apartment. they drove in silence, only talking when they got to the front of her complex.

"do you wanna come in? you can meet cinny," she smiled. clay quickly agreed and got out of his car, once again running to open her door. they walked upstairs, jade stopping in front of her door. "it's kinda messy, so i'm sorry," clay told her not to worry about it and they walked in.

jade quickly showed him around before finding her cat wrapped up on her sofa. "oh there he is! pretty boy!" clay said in a high voice, making jade laugh. she told him she was gonna go change, and he stayed in his spot, carefully petting cinnamon.

she came back out a few moments later, pulling on a cardigan and grabbing her bag. "did you get bit?" she asked him, letting out a small laugh.

"i didn't, surprisingly," he replied, walking over to her. "you look really nice,"

"thank you," she said, covering her blush with her hair. "lets get going,"

when they got into clay's car, he grabbed jade's hand again, knowing they wouldn't be able to talk for the following hours. they drove to her work, talking about how she started and how long she's been there, both of them cracking jokes back in forth. the ride was only about seven minutes, but clay driving slowly made it about ten. when they arrived, clay gave jade sad eyes, to which she returned. he didn't let go of her hand until he really had to, jade laughing at his neediness.

"i'll pick you up at 7:15?"

"for sure, see you then."
