The ray of light shone through the curtains of the Slytherin dormitories, the room smelt of musk and mint, and the room was empty, apart from three beds, that each had a sleeping body, well two sleeping bodies. Draco lied awake his green eyes looking up at the ceiling above him which was made of oak, he was wincing at every snore escaping Crabbe's mouth, he could not sleep. Not only because of the snores, but because so many thoughts filled his mind, the happy thoughts of him beating the Ravenclaw quidditch team, and the worrying thoughts of going home for Christmas. As much as Draco wanted no one to know, he liked Hogwarts, it was more of a home than the one he had, his father was never home, and when he was, he was either in a meeting or getting drunk, the only time he paid attention to Draco when he was discussing his future and where he would lie as a death eater.
Draco sat upright in his bed, he looked over at the clock on the wall, five forty three. Draco swung his legs over the bed and threw a black coat over his shoulders, he tip toed out of the room, causing the floor boards to creak, he walked through the Slytherin common room and made his was out of the dungeons.
Draco climbed the icy stairs of the astronomy tower, when he got to the top, he rested his hands on the railling, and looked out to the sky, it was snowing and the temperature was below freezing, he looked over the snow covered land and proceeded to sit down on the cold concrete with his head in is hands.
When will this come to an end. The pressure of home and school life was getting to him, between getting good grades, and training to become a death eater it was all too much, and his father didn't see how much it was destroying him. Draco sat and started to think of what a normal life would be like, a normal school life filled with friends and happy memories, and being able to go home to a family that want to hear all about how school has been and tell them about all his achievements. But this was another life and that wasn't the one he had.
Draco pushed off from the concrete floor and began walking down the icy stairs, he began to hear footsteps gaining closer in front of him, he soon came face to face with Hermione Granger a brown bushy haired Gryffindor with deep brown eyes and a peculiar accent."What are you doing here mud blood, shouldn't you be in the library studying or something" Draco snaps scrunching his nose and furrowing his eyebrows. Hermione looks deep into Draco's eyes stepping past him and then turning back to face him.
"This is where I come to think, you know wind down and try and forget everything" Hermione says walking off smiling at Draco.Draco couldn't help but get a warm fuzzy feeling inside, he didn't realise it yet but there was something special about Miss Granger, and something about her was going to change Draco's life forever.
